  • Mark79, please give input. Others welcome, too.

I love 357 but I shoot it from a 6 inch. I'm considering acquiring a 3 inch for conceal carry and I want recommendations on "weaker" factory 357 ammo as to effect less report (blast) and less recoil. As you know, the shorter the barrel and smaller/lighter the frame of the revolver, the louder the report and more recoil is effected by the same ammo contrasted to a longer-barreled, heavier revolver. I still haven't begun reloading so that's not an option now, nor in the near future. I may have to go with 38 +p for carry, if there are really no "weaker" factory 357 available.

“Silent But Deadly.  This round was developed specifically to be an exceptionally clean burning round with very low recoil.  It delivers on both expectations, subtle recoil and miniscule fouling.”

Currently sold out on this website, but you can probably find it at Ammoseek.com

  • Why not just use .38 Special +P? You want something stronger than that but weaker than regular .357? I think you might be overthinking this a little.

By the way, I've read in the writings of self-defense experts such as Massad Ayoob that it's not a good idea to use reloaded ammo for self defense, for legal reasons. Some Soros-appointed DA will try to accuse you of making your own "super-deadly" ammo at home instead of buying a commercial product for that purpose. Whereas if you buy something off the shelf, you can just say you used it because it was recommended by the guy at your local gun shop. Seems a little paranoid, but the government desperately wants to punish anyone who defends themselves from criminal attack, and you don't want to make their job any easier than you can avoid. :(

  • Mark79, you might have missed this question. Your thoughts?
