What do you see in this image?
-
A carpenter's level, an ax and a cowboy, had to study it for a minute to get the cowboy.
-
After seeing Stubborn say he saw a cowboy, I saw a cowboy also. But before I saw him say that, I didn't know what it was and thought it may be a demon.
-
At the risk of sounding like a real simpleton, the first thing I saw was that crazy smoking caterpillar character in "Alice in Wonderland". I watched the movie as a kid, and still have the disturbing images and characters floating around in my head.
-
I see a bat

At first I thought, "A cockroach!" Because they do have wings, you know, they just don't usually use them because they don't have to. Then I thought, perhaps it's a praying mantis, but it's missing key features that ought to be there, such as it's distinctive head and front limbs.
Finally, I'll settle on this: I see a caterpillar or perhaps a locust, but not really because there are too many parts missing and the "wings" don't really look like they're wings.
In the end it's just an ink blot, but one with some character.
Oh, and that red and black syringe is just some loose end of electrical wire, is all.
Oh, no! It's an ax and a carpenter's level!!
Now, where is that cowboy???
Oh, right. He's right there in the middle, half in shadow. Okay. Got it.

fruitbat

So what is it, Matthew?
-
Whatever it is ... it's upside down!
-
An upside down crow.
-
At first glance, I thought it was some type of flying whale or something, but once you see the cowboy, you can't un-see it.
-
I still don't see a cowboy!
I see what appears to be oil splatter and from a very badly leaking engine.
So, what is it really?
-
He right there staring back lol
-
Yep, cowboy, not a happy one either. The key is not too look too hard, a good lesson actually in these times. Usually, answers to seemingly difficult questions are right in front of us.
-
I do not see a cowboy! I've tried every day since this picture has been posted and I'm about ready to lose a screw over it. Someone help me out, here. What parts look like a cowboy?

Well, I thought Matthew would post the answer but not yet I guess so I'll give a clue - the very top is the top of his hat.
-
Nope. I don't see it.
-
I think it helps to know that it's just the cowboy's head, not his body.
And, the smoke-looking stuff at the top is a rather unnecessary splotch on the top of his hat.

Nope. Still not there.

Thankyou Stubborn and Mater for the tips! I saw it, and said "WOAH!!!" Outloud. I'm so happy I finally get it!
-
WOW! I thought you guys who were saying cowboy were crazy but then out of nowhere it just hit me like a ton of bricks. It's definitely a cowboy lol.
-
You people who see a cowboy are obviously mentally deranged! Obviously, you were hogtied as a child and you now see cowboys in random oil spills.
-
Hint: It's drawn as to show that one side of his head is shaded, and the other is in the light.
-
executioner with a whip wearing a backpack
-
Me too, a Bat!
-
Start at the bottom where you think is a bat head but it is a chin shaded part in the dark, now look at the line above, the mouth, above that is that shape that looks like pi would be the nose, going up toward one eye in the dark portion the other in the light = 2 eyes, the hat above that = the cowboy.

Wow. Myrna has really lost it!
Are you sure you're not just seeing things?
-
Nope. I don't see it.

Here is an impostor cowboy in a very similar pose:

He's not showing his "dark side" but we all know he has one.
Oh, you've got to imagine there's no beard or mustache, and ignore the rest from the neck down.
.
-
........ Without the beard and mustache!!

And without the "dark side."

WITH the mustache, WITHOUT the shadow or ax or carpenter's level:

ADMIT YOU SEE IT!
-
Ok. With the outline drawn in, I can imagine a cowboy.
Without the outline, it's not there.
-
See it now alright.....
-
I note that the first person who said he saw a cowboy was Stubborn, so my assessment of mental derangement was clearly on the money!!! :ready-to-eat:
But, this oil spot is, I think, just like the picture that's either the young lady or the old hag. Which do you see?
-
I only see a young lady, but when I look into my mirror I see the old hag. lol! :roll-laugh2:
-
I find that when I look at the picture from the bottom, I see the old woman. When I look at the picture from the top, I see the young lady.
