I was a fan of Vocaloid since 2009 and used UTAU since 2009. What do you think about the software? (I didn't mean liturgical use, since the usage of digital/processed music in Mass is prohibited) What do you like about it? And what do you dislike about it as a Catholic?
Let's see: I was an otaku, and partially because of Vocaloid and UTAU, I've experienced the producer life. I've learned some more musical things like vibrato, portamento, post-production, etc.
And the cons: it's mainly by the userbase and the songs that some users make. Like, "Magnet", and other songs which are incompatibile with my faith (I've taken my faith seriously, even at that time when I didn't hear about Traditionalism). I even forbade the users to make my UTAU voicebank sing songs which are immoral, though I wasn't popular at that time. What I dislike about the singing synthe hype is not the programs itself, but the songs which users make with it. Since Japan has a few Christians, and overseas users mostly do covers, there is too much secular music in the Vocaloid type. (Though a series of songs isabout a Catholic term (not sure that other Christians are using it), the Seven Cardinal Sins, I'm not sure if it's safe. There is a planned song series about the Seven Heavenly virtues, I'll do a song to it in a tale-like storyline)
It's your turn. If you haven't met with this program, then no problem.
