Here I thought the perfect husband was Belloc, the way women gush over him.
-
Fresh indeed. That was entirely uncalled for.
-
It was a joke!
-
I am sorry. It does seem that he was getting bashed quite frequently in other threads.
Jokes are diffuclut to "get" in person at times.
-
Sorry too, maybe it was a bad joke, sorr Belloc.
-
Myrna, apology accepted....
we should gush over Christ, so hope no one does over a fallen fellow like me...
as far as marriage material, one could do much better than me....the older I get, the more set in my ways.....
-
Sorry, folks, the perfect husband is taken.

Speaking of husbands, how would you describe a perfect husband? Here's mine. Someone who is:
holy
honest
honorable
humble
hygienic
humorous
highly educated
head of the family
and last but not the least
handsomely faithful

Oops, forgot to include this:
hardworking

It will be a heaven on earth if any girl could find such a husband. But applying this to the principle of "what would you wish at your deathbed when there is eternity before you?" Makes me think that it is not a good idea as it places us in an earthly paradise with no oppurtunity to suffer and no merits gained through sacrifice and patient tolerance of sorrows, so our eternity would not be as great as those who suffered alot at the hand of abusive men. God wants us to suffer (to make us great and more fitting) and it is impossible when there is such an angelic husband.
I have learned to keep my wishes and prayers realistic, as God has many other people who are far more better and dearer than me, so I would rather be polite and not ask too much.
If I have a medicore husband, and God wants to send me a suffering, He can do it by permitting a quarrel to happen.
But what if I have a St. Joseph-like one similar to J-S 's post? He can do so only by taking him from me .
So I prefer to have a quarrel (even a very bitter one) with a so-so man than be left widow by an angelic one.

Family life would be so strengthened if every wife even just thought she had the perfect husband.
-
true, and every husband realize the wife is the image of Mary and the heart of the hearth, as he is the head....

My poor husband's either. Hard to believe but I am rather opinionated.
