If more than a handful of people can make it past the 2-3 month mark and start finding other ways of surviving with small business and self sufficiency, there may be hope.
Fixed it for you.
Because actually, I'm at the 25 year mark personally

By that I mean, I *habitually* only spend money when necessary. I buy things used, dumpster dive, fix up old things, accept charity, hand-me-downs and other freebies, etc. And let's not forget: good old fashioned "do without". We don't purchase or use thanksgiving/halloween/Easter/Valentine's day/St. Patrick's day/4th of July decorations, for example. And Christmas decorations are an investment. We buy them outright (of course), and use them until they stop working. The per year cost ends up being quite low. We don't do "updates" for the sake of novelty or fashion. If it still works, we use it. When it stops working, it gets recycled/burnt/composted/thrown out.
I also never travel.
In short, completely anti-consumerist. If everyone spent like me, the economy would collapse.
