  • What a waste of time. As if buying stuff a day or a week ahead of time is going to have any NET effect on these global corporations.

The only REAL way to have an effect is to
break your desire for excess/unnecessary material things
    reduce/reuse/recycle
    Fix things
Look at garage sales like something for you (not something for "others") and buy used whenever possible
Stop being a good g0y "consumer" (stop buying cheap crap you don't need)

For sane people, EVERY DAY is such a "boycott" because we're against consumerism. We spend money when there is a good reason to, and save it otherwise. Frugality and non-waste is the order of the day.

  • The only reason they started this boycott was because these companies did away with affirmative action and sodomite policies.

Now they lie and state this is about supporting small local businesses.  If they cared about local businesses, they would have done this years ago.

May God bless you and keep you

  • 1 day or 1 week isn't going to break these businesses or even make them flinch. They know most people can't/won't live without them for long. If people can make it past the 2-3 month mark and start finding other ways of surviving with small business and self sufficiency, there may be hope.

  • If more than a handful of people can make it past the 2-3 month mark and start finding other ways of surviving with small business and self sufficiency, there may be hope.

    Fixed it for you.

Because actually, I'm at the 25 year mark personally ;)
By that I mean, I *habitually* only spend money when necessary. I buy things used, dumpster dive, fix up old things, accept charity, hand-me-downs and other freebies, etc. And let's not forget: good old fashioned "do without". We don't purchase or use thanksgiving/halloween/Easter/Valentine's day/St. Patrick's day/4th of July decorations, for example. And Christmas decorations are an investment. We buy them outright (of course), and use them until they stop working. The per year cost ends up being quite low. We don't do "updates" for the sake of novelty or fashion. If it still works, we use it. When it stops working, it gets recycled/burnt/composted/thrown out.

    I also never travel.

In short, completely anti-consumerist. If everyone spent like me, the economy would collapse.

  • How do you guys save money while being mindful of inflation?
I've been a little retarded lately and just spending my money instead of saving it but I do worry that it would lose money just sitting in some bank account.
I've heard investing is the way to go.

  • Sure. I am extremely cheap and proud of it.

I'll only spend when the old things are literally falling apart.

I have a love for saving money. You have to take care of your health when you grow old and healthcare is expensive.
