Title: scientific guy
Post by: spouse of Jesus on June 05, 2010, 06:53:04 PM
He is not interested in any social interaction....
23 and no desire to marry one day....
He is always before his PC doing interent scientic research, making photoshop images, downloading musics and conferences....
He has collected diferent chemicals in his wardrobes, he wants to discover new things by using them. Recently he is interested in psychology and philosophy. He has left uni, avoided the military service, because "His heart's conviction was more important."

And this guy is real and it makes it all the more scary...
I just love to know your ideas about him. I think sharing his latest "experiment" clarifies things the more:

Recently his parents took a trip to armenia and brougt some chocolates as souveniers. He seemed to be in doubt whether or not the fruity things at the core of those candies were alcholic . So he ate 14 kgs of them to see if he gets drunk or not!!! the experiment failed as his parents had to take him to hospital....

i knew someone very strange like that.

He wouldn't eat 30 lbs of chocolate though.

I wonder if there is an environmental cause for some of these problems, like vaccinations.

He sounds like the absent minded professor.  A recluse?

Unfortunately the absent-minded professor is funny only if you see it in a cartoon. In the real life such a person is a depressed pitiable reculse.
Well, from the time he was a child, he had this awful curiousity mixing different liquids to find something new. But he was happy and energetic then, so there was no cause for worry.

Is he socially adept and just prefers his own company?

actually he is a cousin. I know that it is not the place to seek medical advice. I just felt puzzled and wanted to share it, thinking that some of you could have encountered such a thing too.
Trinity, he keeps very few friends but gets very close to that few. I can't ask his parents what I want to know because they hate it if anybody "meddles into their life."

I'm guessing he's building the life that is right for him.  No one has very many friends.  We can only handle a few, the rest are all aquaintances.

It really looks like that. Thank you Belloc.
..........................................................................................
Generally speaking the worst disease is one in which the use of reason is present, while all the pleasures that this world can give are abscent.
So neither the joys of the healthy nor the carefree life of the retarded, just rules and duties which that disease makes much harder to observe.

Eg.

  A healthy person can marry.
A retarded person can sin and get saved too.
   But....
Those sufferers have to be celibate and find it far much harder than it is for healthy ones.

Sigh... Lord have mercy

What a whacko!

I'm not sure where you're going with this, spouse.  I wouldn't want to serve in the Iranian ( or American ) army either.  Trad Catholics mostly recommend against going to university.  He may not know what's wrong with the university specifically, but he may feel it in his gut, the way I did when I was there in the years long before I became Catholic.

It is hardly insane to not want to throw yourself into the meat grinder.  And he didn't drop out to watch TV but has specific interests.  Maybe he is really talented and an entrepreneur.  There is not enough info here to be able to say if he is really on the wrong track in a worldly sense.

Obviously they don't find it hard because nothing is making them be celibate.  They are celibate by choice.

If anyone is suffering from being celibate, my guess is that it's you.  To you it seems awful that someone might not want to be married; to him it is not awful.  But you are probably embarrassed to admit that you are having these thoughts and are thinking about sex all the time, so instead of blaming yourself, you blame this person, and even accuse him of not wanting the same life that you do -- marriage.

This thread is STRANGE, spouse.  I'm surprised all these people are supporting you in your attack on this random person who has done you no harm.  What is really going on in your mind?  Is this someone you have a crush on and want to marry, and you're angry that he is too wrapped up in his own world?

I think you're way off here Raoul.  I think she feels sorry for him because he's a real odd-ball.  I've known similar people.  And she is perhaps comparing herself to him, recognizing that her own problems are not so bad.

Raoul, I admitt that the idea of starting this thread was rather silly. Ok. But to make you sure, that boy (ie. my cousin) looks and acts very unmanly. The way he arranges his room, the way he acts on many occasions is more girly than many girls.
It is why he is such a laugh stock to other boys.
So unless a girl has a problem, she will never ever be attracted to such a guy.
And as a future catholic I won't marry a cousin whose father is also my mother's cousin and my father's brother!!!!!!!!!

OK that thread is too silly, I was just so puzzled. I wish Matthew would lock it.

By the same measure with which you measure it, Raoul.  Spouse is just a naturally tender hearted person.  I didn't see anything medical in this, but what do I know.  Different strokes for different folks.
