Rubix Cube!

  • Uh, in order to entertain myself in a wholesome manner, I have lately had recourse to the Rubix Cube. However it is so frustrating because I cannot seem to have all sides of the same color.

The frustration has reached magnitudes of allegorical proportion!

Does anyone have any pointers for solving the Rubix Cube?

    Thanks!

  • Pull the stickers off and put them wherever you'd like them to go.

Well, the past hour has taught me that those stickers are adhered quite adequately, because it is quite difficult to pull them off!

Oh well, I am trying to stay honest. Once again, once side is one color, and the other sides are heterogeneous mixtures of color...

I forgot to mention that doing so does decrease the longevity of your Rubix Cube.

Although I haven't looked this up and was never successful myself, I'd imagine that you have to progress the various sides equally in some manner. I generally tried to use the middle block as my reference point for each side and would still guess that this might be a solid strategy.

Perhaps someone can find you some "tips" online so you don't risk finding any sort of spoiler before the nudge in the right direction that you're looking for.

I have been able to solve a Rubik's Cube for a few years now. I got interested in other Rubik's puzzles and have been able to solve most of them, including the 4x4 cube.

Solving the world's most famous puzzle (not by pulling the stickers off) isn't as easy as moving the sides and lining them up. It consists of different algorithms and different steps to use these algorithms. Luckily for me, I've memorized them. I would suggest googling "rubik's cube algorthims" and click on a website that's easy to understand. If you'd like visual help, go to YouTube and search "how to solve a rubik's cube."  The first two results (parts 1 & 2) should be by pogobat.  These were the videos that got me on my feet with understanding the Rubik's Cube.

Nah, I'd take it all apart and put it back together the right way. Although, as I recall, trying to fit the last cube in place was always a struggle.
