An e-mail forward that brought a smile to my face:
The car in front of me had a bumper sticker on it. It read: “Pray for Obama. Psalm 109:8.” When I got home I opened my bible to the scripture and read it and started laughing. Psalm 108 (109) :8 –“Let his days be few and brief; And let others step forward to replace him.” At last –I can voice a Biblical prayer for our president!
Actually, the Sacred Vulgate (as translated in the Douay version) reads, "Let his days be made few: and let another take his bishopric" (Ps. cviii. 8).
It is curious that St. Peter (Acts ch. i., 16 ff.) applies this verse and other verses of this Psalm to the reprobation of the traitorous Judas.
So, even with the overt Episcopal reference of the Douay translation of Psalm cviii. (as opposed to whatever version was cited above) that would make the above-mentioned anecdote somewhat confusing, nevertheless the analogy between Judas and Obama is pretty spot on...
I know I'm praying that "his days be made few" in the White House and in any other political place!
