How to annoy your postman:

This wouldn't work.  There are actually postal regulations on how high a street side mailbox must be and how close to the road it must be.  The post office may deliver mail for a time, but will put a copy of the regulations in the mailbox with a suspense date when they will stop delivering to that address.  Note that a mailbox doesn't necessarily have to be completely within the regulations, but if the mail-lady has any difficulty with the reaching the mailbox, she will measure.  I know this from personal experience.
