My folk mass attendance started in '68 or so while still in grammar school. We had the felt banners. Peace signs were everywhere. Two other songs I remember that were part of the repertoire were "Blowin' in the Wind" and "If I Had a Hammer." Ï think the lesbian communion ladies started in the early 70s when I was in HS, and I stuck with the "regular" NOM. I do remember that the catalysts to start this folk thing in our parish were the nuns and a priest who was ultimately defrocked a decade down the road. On another note, I remember in 8th grade we had coed "sex education" classes led by another priest of the parish. He was also defrocked a decade down the road. When I think back on my CINO grammar & high school plus CINO college religious "education," I want to vomit. So many young souls were sadly lost.
I spent 12 years in novus ordo schools and in that entire time I never heard the saints Aquinas, Bosco, Chrysostom, Liguori, or Vianney  mentioned once. Mother Theresa on the other hand was constantly brought up.

It is absolutely crucial to the New Order church, to speak and act as though the Church began in 1962.

And I the same sans Mother Theresa. I only knew about her from the news. I abandoned the Faith in '74 or so while in college and never heard those names up to then. When I, by the Grace of God, returned in 2002 or so, I started with the NO for about 6 months and told my wife this is NOT Catholic. Ater some research we ended up at an SSPX chapel. It was there where I began to learn the Faith the way I should have been taught after the 6th grade.  My late uncle/godfather(+RIP+) and I attended the same Jesuit university about 25 years apart. When he graduated, he said he couldn't believe he kept his Faith. When I got there, I had none to lose.

I spent ten years, and I heard of no saint at all. At least we could still make fun of fαɢs.

Half the priests I encountered in that time would make Liberace seem like John Wayne
