Heh, Poche is right - nobody in the NO confuses communion services with Mass....Because Communion services are where nuns get to play like they are priests!

In one of my old parishes, the nuns would fight over the right to do this.  Fr. knew he could never be more than 2 minutes late to any scheduled Mass...else he'd show up to find a nun starting the introductory rite!

    I got out.

We have these nuns at a NO parish I go to. They make it a point to use inclusive language during our Mass. I say "our Mass" because this is hardly their parish- in their own convent they do a daily mass and they give communion to a protestant minister who for some reason is invited to attend.

This has been going on for years and years, so of course the bishop must be aware of it- and his predecessor too. Someone asked me why I don't report things to the bishop, now you know. They don't care what the peons think.

To be honest Crossbro, if i was a monk, i'd invite the protestant minister to tell him he's a heretic and that he's not welcome at my church
     :heretic:

    why?

How are they able to do "inclusive language" with the new missal?

    Correct:
May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands, for the praise and glory of His name...

    Incorrect:
may the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands, for the praise and glory of God's name...

    Lay Eucharistic Minister

There were lay eucharistic ministers before Vatican II. It was very rare but they existed.

Proof Please?   I lived through the time before Vatican 2 and have no
recollection of Eucharistic ministers.  Never talked about nor discussed.
    And, unheard of.

It wasn't a normal occurance but it did happen in certain difficult circuмstances.
In the Cronicles of the Catholic Church in Lithuania there was a woman who was given permission by the bishop to take a host with her to her wedding in a cσncєnтrαтισn cαмρ. There was a priest who came with her but he was not allowed to witness the marriage. The idea being that she was to share the host with her husband on their wedding.
There was another incident related by Bishop Schneider. He said that once when there was mass his grandmother was too sick to go. The priest allowed his mother to bring a host to his grandmother after mass.

My parents' catechism also described another instant in extraordinary ciorcuмstances when this was the case. When there was apersecution and the priest was in jail or had fled a layman would go to the church or chapel and either consume or distribute the hosts in order to prevent sacriledge.

  • let's use correct terminology:

the correct term is: Extraordinary Minister.

Saying 'Eucharistic Minister' just plays into their hands.

Actually the correct term is "Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion."

    I will make this easy;

Cardinal Martinez -Somalo the prefect of the Congregation of Divine Worship in 1989 stated that the Holy See viewed the use of minister extraordinarius an unusual occurrence.

The use of extraordinary ministers the way it is being used in the USA is a blatantly wrong and a violation of liturgical norms.

In Pope Paul VI's Immensae Carittatis he clearly defined when extraordinary ministers could be used:

    1) The lack of an ordinary minister (acolyte, priest deacon).
    2) Lack of ability for health reasons for ordinary minister to function.
    3) Enormous number of communicants.

I have been to NO masses with less than 20 people attending where EM's (and more than 1) were used.

Can you give a verified example such as a witness and a footnoted
notation from a verified and a trusted source.

But if he's not welcome in your church why waste the cost of a postage stamp to send him the invitation if your intention is to tell him that he is not welcome in your church?

High Mass = NOMer comes to Church stoned.

Low Mass = NOMer comes to Church depressed.
