  • Go away, 62myer.

And Bawden lives in bloody Kansas. He's probably never left the Americas.

You won't find many people here who "welcome" Francis. You should change your screen name to "Eternal Pest," myer.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

  • We had a member here back over the summer who claimed to have visions about David Bawden, a brilliant lunatic in Kansas with no Holy Orders that claims to be pope.

I say "brilliant lunatic" because even in this era of digital communication where the current pontiff is followed like a rock star, where people have made up their own opinions of who or who doesn't claim the Chair of St. Peter and hopefully attained - even in the Novus Ordo - the most rudimentary Catholic education on how a pope is elected in a conclave of his peers, some people will seemingly think a man born of the American bourgeoisie with, I imagine, little seminary formation and an "apostolate" somewhere in the bleak grains of the Midwest can somehow be the Holy Father.

It's a whole movement known as "Conclavism", and it is at that point one has distorted traditional Catholicism into a type of Roman schizophrenia where the acts of Vatican II promulgating religious liberty, vernacular Masses and the redaction of centuries of anti-Jєωιѕн sentiment have gotten so egregious, thinking that we've gone 58 years - nearly 2/3rds into the life of an average adult male - is not enough, so they elect their own pope.

Very few people here would actually WELCOME Pope Francis...

I bet you'd make a good pope Charlemagne.

Thanks, but I don't know. I'd be too much of an off-with-their-heads type of Pope. Maybe that's what's needed. :heretic:
