Looks as if I will have to peruse those books again to find said creature. Of course there is nothing that overt in Narnia, but what creature is it? The answer must be lion around there somewhere. ;) ;) ;)

i think that this story may be found in the book The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which is volume 5 of the Chronicles of Narnia.
    This is a fascinating read.

Time to re-visit that book then. Thank you. I have to figure there is a Chronicles of Narnia bestiary where one can look up such things.
off on that hunt we go, after tea of course.  ;)

Look for the Duffers, Dufflerpods, or the Monopods.
Dufflepud | The Chronicles of Narnia Wiki | Fandom
    https://narnia.fandom.com/wiki/Dufflepud
Dufflepuds (also known as Duffer or Monopod) is the general name used to refer to the servants of the magician Coriakin. The duffers lived together in a community on an island, serving Coriakin and working under the command of the Chief Duffer. They believed Coriakin to be a tyrant, when in fact he tried to educate the Dufflepuds, and helped them survive. Contents[show] History The duffers ...

    Trivia
    • A Dufflepud's single foot is so large it can be used as an umbrella when he is on his back, or can be used as a canoe if the Dufflepud goes on water.

So, when the Dufflepud is in the rain, he lies on his back with the foot serving as an umbrella covering his body.
That means he gets his back waterlogged.

The position of the men with their head-in-hole position reminds me somewhat of the Dufflepuds -- a most miserable position.
    Lord have mercy.

I thought it had to be these critters. I recall now in my mind's eye the BBC production of Prince Caspian and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader and how they were represented.
I wouldnt mind seeing a decent non-Disney production of The Last Battle.

I agree. I stay away from Disney, but I also have not watched movies in the last ten years with all the prevalent perversity in them. It is for this reason that .I prefer to read the books, especially the classics.
