  • If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • And yet some Traditional priests get annoyed at babies crying in church ... even when the facility doesn't give the parents anywhere to go.  Once church I attended had no basement and no vestibule to speak of (just a 6'x6' entryway).  And often it was either raining or freezing cold outside.  Yet the priest reprimanded parents whose little ones were crying.

I agree -- such hypocrisy and thoughtlessness on the part of said priests is no laughing matter. What do they want you to do, have most of the family miss Mass for 18 years while you have little ones at home? When is the wife supposed to attend Mass? When she's "done having children" a.k.a. on the Pill? Give me a break.

Remember, we're all human -- and that includes priests. With all their exalted dignity and graces of state, on a human level they're still very much BACHELORS like the classic trope of the older, unmarried uncle. Bachelors (I define this term as "single men" with no other connotations -- if I'm wrong about its use, I apologize) are by nature used to having things their own way, everything in perfect order, thinking only of themselves, etc. Who else do they have to think about, when they've lived alone for years or even decades?

When you have children, you're FORCED to think of others, plus you have to "let go" if you're a melancholic temperament that likes everything in exact order. I know I'm that way by nature.

I think priests should read some books on the subject at least -- something to broaden their horizons in this regard.

  • This is actually a little upsetting their commercial wasn’t about manliness, or getting rid of masculine thinking. It said don’t rape women, and don’t bully. That other men should protect weaker people by stopping these things if they are witness to it. Nothing wrong with that.

  • Sounds like Gilette was taking on so-called "toxic masculinity". The original joke/meme poster stands vindicated.

In some places it was customary for the husband and wife to take turns going to Mass on Sundays until their little ones were old enough to not be too disruptive, although that's not always practical, especially in this day and age where many people have to go fairly far afield to find Trad Masses(or there are only 1 or 2 Masses a day)

Think about what you just said. "having no disruptive little ones" means the woman was done having children 3-4 years ago. But in a completely natural, "open to life" scenario,  that would be mid-late 40's for most women, assuming normal health.

Depending on when they got married, that could be quite a few years -- up to a quarter of a century (do the math: 46 - 18 = 28 years). There has to be a solution for Trad women who aren't contracepting, here in 2019 with the Trad situation being what it is.

Unless you live in a major city (which is also favored by the Trad movement), there aren't even 2 Masses on Sunday, much less 5 or 6. And unless you are living in one of those Trad meccas, you won't be attending Mass in a large Church building with an elaborate Cry Room. At many chapels, the "cry room" is going outside the main entrance and closing the solid wooden/metal doors so you can't hear or see anything.

Women need the graces of Mass as well -- even during the 1/3 of their lives called "childbearing".

True, which is why I mentioned it's not always practical in this day and age. Back in the day, over here at least, even small villages would have multiple Masses a day. Most Americans probably never had that privilege, being in a Protestant country, but it was still a whole lot better before Vatican 2.

Having to bring infants to Mass is just yet another inconvenience brought upon us by Vatican 2 and the Great Apostasy.
