Post either...

1) funny quotes of things you've either said or heard in conversations in your own life, or

2) define nonsense words or expressions you or someone you know either created and/or use.

Guess it's only fair that I go first, then...

Phrase: "Tricycle granny"

This phrase is used in my house to refer to the phenomenon that occurs when you are anxiously awaiting a package or piece of mail, and every two seconds you think you hear the truck or the guy that's supposed to bring it. The phrase originated when I remarked (on one such occasion) that every two seconds I thought I heard a truck loud enough to be a semi, and then I look out and there'd be something ridiculous instead like some little old granny on a tricycle riding down the street ringing her little bell. The remark caught on.

Now it's common to hear in our house, when someone is expecting a package, and looks out the window to see if it's there, for someone else to ask, "is it your package, or just a tricycle granny?"

This one came out in a writing session the other day:

"... there are only three kinds of people in this world: those that can be bribed, those that can be threatened, and those who are willing to die early for what's right, and I hate to say it but... the world's running awfully short on that last kind..."

I always thought I was the last kind, until I got in a situation where I thought I was going to be eaten by a wild beast and then I chickened out.

I use the word "Fumblygook" to sustitute for a cuss word when I get to the point of utter frustration.
