Title: Fish Fans?
Post by: Vladimir on May 27, 2012, 04:48:38 PM
Is anyone here interested in fish?

I love the show "River Monsters" - it's probably the best nature show on television and the only television show that I watch.

I've never really done any studying on the aquatic species, and I don't fish.

Yet, if time permitted, I could spend hours watching minnows and fry in the shallows of a pond.

I'd much rather look at, admire, and handle the fish than read about them.   :smirk:

YES. Very interested.

I often accompanied my dad to the lake or pond during the evenings and weekends to go fishing when I was growing up. Catching them is really fun, especially when you use different methods to catch different types of fish. Catching them is great, but watching them is equally as enjoyable, IMO. This is why I've always wanted to take a dive inside a submarine or go scuba diving. Just today I stood for probably about half an hour on a bridge at the park, engrossed in watching the fish, lol.

I even have a couple Ichthyology books sitting on my bookshelf. Both well used. :) Fish are awesome!

I love Koi fish. They are so colorful -- it's nice to see them swim around in a pond.

I don't fish, but watching people fish is interesting. Reading about fish as well. Eels are so strange - they are quite fascinating.

This is the show - the host catches some pretty amazing creatures:

It's shocking how large fish can grow!
