Blessed Pio Nono was a manly Pope's Pope.  Not like the pro-fag Destroyer we have today.

The more I learn about him, the more I like him.  

Among many other things, he had the good sense to distrust the jew/anglican convert John Henry Newman.
He would never consider giving him a Cardinal's hat and likewise, in his private writings, Newman disrespected Pius IX and hated his "Sylllabus of Errors".

The Pope also wisely reversed liberal reforms and put the jews back into the Roman ghetto.

Holy Pope Pius IX, pray for your remnant Church militant!

Agreed. 
The more I read about Leo XIII though (he who made Newman a cardinal), the less I like him (despite his great encyclicals). In particular, he allowed and encouraged Catholic representatives at one of the first ecuŠ¼enical events in America in the late 1800s and was "personally sympathetic" to Americanism, despite his condemnation of it.
