  • Does anybody else believe that dogs are a great gift from God?  I have a boxer/lab mix and she is the sweetest thing.  I find dogs so amusing.

  • God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds, and cattle, and every thing that creepeth on the earth after its kind. And God saw that it was good.
So of course dogs are good! I miss mine, who was sadly attacked by another ........DOG!
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

Nope, Its not a pointless thread.  I have two pooches that give so much love and companship I don't know what life would be like without them.  The boys (that's how I refer to them) are like my kids.

Well you have to admit, for the most part dogs don't give you any grief.

Here is something I read the other day I got a charge out of that really made my day.

    Welfare for Dogs?

This morning I went to sign my dogs up for welfare. At first the lady said, “Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare.” So I explained to her that my dogs are mixed in color, unemployed, lazy, can’t speak English and have no clue who their Daddys are. They expect me to feed them, provide them with housing and medical care . So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify. My dogs get their first checks Friday.

Sometimes I do.  Never once has my dog back talked me or said anything to remotely make me mad.  I hope she doesnt start.

  • Allow me to be the voice of dissent here. I hate dogs.  :really-mad2:

They crap on my lawn and the neighbor's stupid little mutt, I call him The Rat since that is what he looks like, yips and yelps everytime I dare to walk out my side door.

The last house I lived at my neighbor allowed her mutt to bark all night disturbing me and keeping my kids up.

I would never inflict a dog on myself or anyone I care about. I'll take a cat any day of the week over a mutt.

  • I've got a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.  He's definitely a gift from God.  God uses him to console me and to chastise me.  This is him wearing a poncho I made out of his blanket.  His name is Dexter.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • We adopted Teddy Bear, a pekingnese at 6 months, born blind.  He is now 10 years old.  If it were not for his nose and keen smell, he would have more problems being blind.  He does not know what sight is and is a happy dog.  He does not play fetch the ball. But when my mother-in-law was in the nursing home, we would take him and he had the joy of saying hello to many residents.  We were asked if he was a therapy dog.  Well, no, but the residents are teddy's therapy.  That is how he gets his lovings.  He likes going to Lowes and the employees know him and give him dog treats.  He won't eat them, but he guards them.  He travels in the car for 3 day trips fishing.  He likes the new smells.

  • My dog's name is Ruffers.  Yes I know, its the most rediculous name ever for a dog and there is a long story involved on how she got it.

When I got married a year and a half ago, I had to leave her with my parents because she couldn't go where I was going to live.  But they only live a about two miles away so I see her often.  What's funny about this is that everytime I go over there she always greets me with a stick in her mouth.  And mind you, these are the smallest little sticks you can imagine.  One time she even teased me with a pine needle as she held it in her mouth so carefully.  She would act like she was going to give it to me, then as I tried to grab it she would run away and this process was repeated for a while.  It was just hilarious how she had that tiny pine needle in her mouth, though.  And as she is part boxer and is constantly pawing me with her paws.  She loves attention, and I have to admit, I babied her as a puppy. So she has a few bad habits that could be fixed.
