i know that Jim Gaffigan is a Catholic and has a lot of children. I've seen his acts, and not only is he extremely funny, but he's (from what I recall) 95% really clean. Every once in a while he slid into impure suggestions, but it was rare, so I had no issues watching him.

Why did the bishop cross the road? To get to the other side. {Note: This joke was based on a true story.}

I seriously have to doubt that the name is a deliberate homage to +ABL --- to my knowledge Jerry wasn't Catholic --- but I do have to wonder if he might have heard the name and thought, with a minor twist, it would be a good name for his character.

Hey, epiphany, your link to the "Taming of the Shrew 1967" nearly gave me a virus or malware (or its already in my laptop and I haven't noticed it). Could you mind deleting it before someone else gets it? Are you sure that site is safe? I couldn't send you a private message so I'm going to leave a public one here. Hopefully nobody else gets a virus.
Also, folks, should I be worried about a virus or malware or should I just let it go? Man, I do not want something wrong with my laptop.

The book, "Whiskey Galore" is even better than the movie. It was written by Catholic convert Compton McKenzie, who died in 1972. The book is very humorous, as it highlights the actions of Catholics and Protestants (making fun of both, but especially of Protestants) on an Island in the Hebrides after a ship full of whiskey runs aground on the Island. Really good book.

Never click ads on these mirror sites. Please use a browser that blocks ads such as Brave (https://brave.com/download/) or install ad block. You probably don't have a virus. I wouldn't worry.
Here is a better version of The Taming of the Shrew from a non sleazy site:
