  • I'm 16. I don't like the idea of "youth groups" or "youth ministers" (only priests should be ministers). Youth groups and lay youth leaders seem to be way too Protestant to me. I would enjoy so-called "youth groups" much more if there were more sacred activities, such as praying the Rosary together, praying the Divine Office, singing Gregorian chant, attending Latin Masses, and even being taught Latin. That would be a lot better than going to amusement parks, playiing kick-ball with the towns Protestants to promote "ecuмenism", or going to contemporary Christian music concerts (I HATE contemporary Christian  :really-mad2:) so that we can rock out for Christ, man :guitar:. I'm more of a formal Catholic.

Are these "youth" groups and activities part of the post-Vatican II Church to Protestantize young people so that the future Church continues to fail? What about World Youth Day? Was Pope John Paul II really into youth involvement?

Another thing to add here is Pentacostal Charismatic crap like speaking in "tongues", "prophesying" as if the Holy Spirit is inspiring your words, and "healing" each other.

  • Keep in mind that the target of the Freemasons, specifically, was the clergy and the youth.

Explore the "fruits" of these "youth groups" and you'll see the complete degradation of culture that came along with it.

  • I personally would be weary of youth groups, even among some "trad" circles. Most (read: the overwhelming vast majority) of young people are not detached from this present culture, and still hang onto its ways, regardless of what you are told.

People say that there's a rebirth of Tradition going on, as more and more young people are coming back to Tradition. The funny thing about that, though, is how these kinds of people aren't actually trad in mentality (see the Fish Eaters forum for this kind of person), they're just trad in the sense that they feel bored of the Novus Ordo and don't want to go there. The Mass of all times is a Novelty item to them. They love all of the bells and whistles of the Mass, and how it's "old" and "never seen before". For this kind of person, Catholicism is just something that you do on Sunday and discard for the rest of the week. There is no rebirth of Tradition. If you need proof of that, you'll see how even in trad circles there is still a very powerful, lingering sense of Feminism that permeates all aspects of life. That foul stench is inescapable, really.

I say this with good intentions. Do not think that even if you avoid the Novus Ordo you will avoid modernism. Feminism is modernism and it is a very big problem that most people cannot see.
For those who I have unjustly offended, please forgive me. Please disregard my posts where I lacked charity and you will see that I am actually a very nice person. Disregard my opinions on "NFP", "Baptism of Desire/Blood" and the changes made to the sacra

Um... well, no. Not the way they're doing it.

Condom wrappers everywhere, immodest clothing... I think pictures might express the truth about it, and you can make your own deductions.

    Overt public signs of affection?

Handing out condoms by the thousands...

Teenage girls and boys sleeping in very close proximity to one another, not being separated?

    Rainbow vestments?

    Rock 'n Roll music...

    Liturgical dancing?

    False ecuмenism...

    Tatooing?

Let's just draw some eyeballs to the wrong places, shall we?

As if this isn't enough, they change the stations of the cross. Compare the two here:

The 13 New WYD Stations of the Cross:

       1: The Last Supper
2: The Agony in the garden
       3: Jesus before the Sanhedrin
       4: Jesus before Pilate
5: Jesus is whipped and crowned
       6: Jesus carries his cross
7: Jesus helped by Simon of Cyrene
8: Jesus speaks to the women of Jerusalem
9: Jesus is stripped and nailed
10: Jesus and the Good Thief
11: Jesus speaks to Mary and John
       12: Jesus dies
       13: Jesus is buried

The 14 Traditional Stations of the Cross:

1 - Jesus condemned to death
2 - Jesus takes up His Cross
    3 - Jesus falls 1st time
4 - Jesus meets His mother
5 - Jesus is helped by Simon
6 - Veronica wipes Jesus' face
    7 - Jesus falls the 2nd time
8 - Jesus speaks to the women of Jerusalem
    9 - Jesus falls the 3rd time
10 - Jesus is stripped of His garments
11 - Jesus is nailed to the cross
12 - Jesus dies on the cross
13 - Jesus is taken down from the cross
14 - Jesus is laid in the tomb

Protestant (ie heretic) rock bands, kids running wild wearing scandalous clothes, singing materialistic tunes in Cathedrals. Services which could easily pass for (liberal) Evangelical ones, the NO at it's absolute worst. The "pilgrims" which go to it (I'm sure some go with pious intent) are sadly misguided, and World youth Day is a celebration of this... :(

    This...honestly....hurts.

I found GOD through my Youth Group. Yeah we rock out to Christian music. Yes we spend some Sundays playing dodge-ball. Yes we act like KIDS. Why do we listen to Christian rock? Because we can connect to GOD in our own way. Why do we play dodge-ball? So we can work as a team and help eachother through difficult times. Why do we act like kids? Because we are. Because we need to. Because more teenagers attend mass who go to their church's youth group. Because more teenagers find HOPE and COMMUNITY and have less of a chance of committing ѕυιcιdє, having SEX, doing DRUGS, drinking ALCOHOL. Don't you get it? Christ said "let the children come to Me" and they can do that through youth groups with the help of youth ministers and their Priests. Don't you get it? Without my Youth Group I wouldn't have the relationship with GOD that I do now. GOD is not just for grown ups who always act responsible and traditional. God loves the sinner. God loves ME. I learned that because of my youth group. I learned that by being a part of His Church. I learned that through going to choir and singing contemporary Christian music. Just because something is new, doesn't mean it's evil. Just because something is Old, doesn't mean it can't be changed.

    One more thing.

I also discovered ADORATION because of my youth group.

Don't go around dissing things you obviously do not understand, because its changed my life...

Sorry but you sound like a Protestant, calm down then come back. Women think with emotion not their heads alot, this is a prime example.

You know how you would have less a chance of commiting ѕυιcιdє, not doing drugs, having sex or getting drunk... don't be a Novus Ordo.

You forget, my dear, that we were all children at one time.

Protestantizing things does NOT lead teenagers to God. In fact, it pushes them AWAY from God by blurring the lines between worship and playtime.

When I go to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, I am there not to profane the presence of God by being disrespectful and doing things that are HUMAN activities. I go to worship God in the way He instructed His Apostles to do so. This didn't include all kinds of merriment INSIDE the Church or taking "services" outside of the building and making it a big party.

When I was a young lady your age, they were doing this kind of stuff. No one I know from High School that did any of this stuff still even goes to Mass at all.

You know what brought me to God? The Immemorial Mass of the Council of Trent.

For years I went to the Novus Ordo, and people were wearing shorts, filing their nails, giggling and talking during mass and inside of church, and other profanity supposedly in the presence of God.

What changed me? Going to the Mass before it was gutted. It was a totally different experience for me, and I actually was receiving grace, and it was palpable.

I know you might be angry at what is brought to your attention here, my dear, but please understand that many of us were where you are right now. It wasn't playing all kinds of games that got me to find the true Faith. It was the TRUTH that brought me to the true Mass when I was 14 years old.

Please don't take offense to what we're saying. We were lied to just like you are being lied to now by the people that wouldn't see the reign of Christ the King on earth, but the destruction of His Church instead. We saw through the lies, and I pray that God will give you the grace to see that... and I pray that it is soon.

Sophia, let me tell you something. I was raised Catholic, but outside the Charismatic movement. Nevertheless that did not keep me safe from secularized Catholicism. Between the ages of 11 and 12, my faith was distorted and could not be repaired because, like yours, it was based on sensationalism and emotion. Like you, I "rocked for God" and all that, but did it help my spiritual life? Did it help me understand my faith? Did it make me love God more? Did it help me grow in virtue? I can swear to you IT DIDN'T. All it did was give me an emotional high, and afterwards abandon me again in my pursuit of sin. I didn't get any grace whatsoever to help change my life.

The only place I received the life changing grace you are looking for came from the Catholic Church herself and the Sacraments that God gave her. Whatever you THINK you found in your Youth Group (which is a man-made entity), you will truly find within her Tradition, Doctrines, and Mysticism. If you already did find it, you wouldn't have come here on this forum looking for help in the first place.
