I have the actual soundtrack CD for this game. Yes, there is a soundtrack, and I bought it! The music, although synthesized, is THAT good. Pure melodic genius.

When I played video games as a kid there were some good harmless songs on them. Nowadays I have seen kids play games that have heavy metal music on them and stuff. It's amazing how fast things can change for the worst.

On the topic of video game music, I simply have to make mention of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, one of the greatest video games of all time with (IMHO) one of the greatest soundtracks of all time, movie or game. I especially love the "Key Largo" from the game select screen:
