In a recent
thread there was an interesting tangential discussion on how young men are to approach and captivate "fair maidens' hearts" by means of communication. Faith cometh by hearing, as St. Paul teaches (Rom. ch. x. 17), but apparently so does the love that can lead to nuptial grace.
A friend sent me a message, saying, "Hey maybe there should be a thread on pious pick-up lines for us to use." I responded with my characteristic enthusiasm, "Uh, okay... I guess."
So, here's it goes:
Some time ago, someone came to me with the question of how to ask his betrothed for a modest kiss in such a manner as to impress her, to which I responded,
Say to her, "Your lips are as sweet rubrics to which I am bound sub gravi to adhere!"
He didn't use it because he said she wouldn't have understood what that meant, and told me something like what Catholic Samurai wrote, "Dude, you are predestined to vow virginity, unless you find yourself a female liturgical nerd to wed."
