This is the docuмentary made in 1950 by Father Maurice Proulx (from Quebec) at the occasion of the Proclamation of the dogma of the Assumption in Rome. It is in French, but he is only describing what we see, so English people can still benefit. Besides, in order to help you all, I am describing, (below the video link), almost minute by minute, what is happening, and am also giving you the translation in English of the 2 most important texts. You can print this page, and watch the video with somebody reading it as it unfolds. The video is 31 minutes long.

Here is the order of things you see in Fr. Proulx's Assumption video:
-Minute 00:00: Presentation. Then view of St Peter and statues etc.
-M. 02:42: The day before the Proclamation, the Pope enters St Peter's basilica to give a public audience to the crowd and ends with the blessing. (04:50: we see him briefly greet Abp. Paul-Émile Léger of Montreal. The same who will wreck the Council 12 years later). People exit St Peter.
-M. 05:30: Pilgrims visiting the main basilicas of Rome. Fr. Proulx describes what we see.
-M. 08:50: We see the antique monuments of Imperial Rome.
-M. 10:27: From the church of Ara Caeli, a statue of the BVM, called "Salus Populi Romani" (Salvation of the Roman People) goes in procession to St Peter, a tradition started by Pope St. Gregory 1,500 years ago against the plague.
-M. 11:23: The day of Proclamation (Nov. 1, 1950), pilgrims gather at dawn in st Peter's square, to have room for the 09AM ceremony. As time passes, we see more and more people and special guests, as well as the material preparation of the ceremony. Swiss guards are grouped (13:56), while the diplomatic corps is representing diverse countries (14:11). The Palatine Guard, special ceremonial escort of the Supreme Pontiff, is processing in the square (14:17). Gradins have been installed on the roof of the Colonnade (14:55). The pontifical Throne has been erected (15:11). The square and the basilica stand where the first Pope has been martyred in 67AD. An important group of Spanish military, representing the Government (of Catholic General Franco, who saved his country from Communism, and restored the Monarchy) comes to attend, with the yellow Spanish Royal flag (15:47).
-M. 16:00: The Vatican Television prepares itself on the cornice of the colonnades. More than 500,000 pilgrims are packing the square. Ambassadors and other representatives of many countries, even from Quebec, are escorted to their respective places by the members of the Noble Guard (16:46). Their wives are wearing the traditional roman black veil.
-M. 17:19: The Noble Guard is the Pope's Escort. We see them with their red tunic and long sabers. We also see a few Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in their long white capes.
-M. 17:45: While the Litanies of the saints are sung, the Religious Men of Rome enter the square in procession, followed by the Secular Clergy and the parish priests of Rome. The crowds fill the square and the Via Conciliazione up to the Tiber River. They sing the Regina Caeli, while the clergy in surplices processes to their allotted spots. Abbots, Bishops, Patriarchs, all in white copes and mitres, precede the S. Pontiff.
-M. 20:27: Two Chaplains, dressed in dark purple robes, carry the Precious Mitre and the Precious Tiara that will be used by the Pope. The Pope will come on the Sedia Gestatoria. 700,000 faithful acclaim the Holy Father, carried by 12 men. We also see the giant baldaquino covering the Sedia, flanqued by two flabelli of ostrich feathers.
-M. 23:23: When the Pope is seated, the Eminent Cardinals go to him and renew their homage and obedience.
-M. 24:10: The Dean of the Sacred College, Card. Tisserant, (another future disaster at the Council) implores His Holiness to proclaim the Assumption as a Dogma. The Pope answers that we must first pray the Holy Ghost for light, and he kneels and intones the Veni Creator, continued by the Vatican choir and the faithful, then the Pope stands for the final prayer of the Veni Creator.
-M. 26:37: The Pope sits and reads the Bull of Proclamation of the Assumption as Dogma of the Catholic Faith, ("We proclaim, declare, and define, that it is a dogma divinely revealed, that Mary, the Immaculate Mother of God always Virgin, having completed the course of her earthly life, has been elevated in soul and body to the Celestial Glory."), and the crowd applauds. Then the Pope intones the Te Deum.
-M. 28:06: The Pope expresses, in Italian, his joy to have been given the grace of being able to place this new Crown on the head of the BVM, and is united to all of his children in their joy and devotion. He tells them that he will now recite a prayer he has himself composed for the occasion: "O Immaculate Virgin, Mother of God and Mother of men, we believe, with all the fervor of our Faith, in your triumphant Assumption in body and soul in Heaven, where you are acclaimed Queen by all the Angelic Choirs and by all the Phalanxes ( = Army Corps) of the Saints."
-M. 29:25: The Pope intones the Credo, taken up by the crowd. Bells ring.
-M. 29:40: The Pope blesses the assembly.
-M. 30:10: The Pope and his retinue enter the basilica to celebrate the Mass. 50,000 people await inside since 07AM. At night, there is a celebration with candles. We see an Italian banner that means: Queen Assumed into Heaven. The End.
