  • Number CCLXXXVIII (288)   19 January 2013

    TWO JOURNIES

Journies since mid-December, to North America and France, have enabled me to observe within the Society of St Pius X a dangerous state of indetermination. Where the District Superior is not blind, the danger is for the moment held back somewhat, so that resistance is puzzled. Where however the District Superior is a willing servant of SSPX headquarters, there the movement towards the Newchurch forges ahead, but also the Resistance is taking shape. What is at stake ?

Ever since the breakout of Protestantism, the world has been sliding further and further away from God. Thanks to the Council of Trent (1545-1563), the Catholic Church held firm, but thanks to the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) the official Catholic Church joined in the slide. Then thanks mainly (but not only !) to Archbishop Lefebvre (1905-1991), relics of the Church of Trent gathered themselves together to form amidst the desert of modernity a Catholic oasis, the SSPX. But where the mighty Church had not been able to resist, it was, sure enough, merely a matter of time before the puny SSPX would be tempted in its turn to join in the slide.

However, just as at Vatican II the Church's official leadership was obliged to pretend that it was not breaking with the Tridentine Church (such is, for instance, Benedict XVI's "hermeneutic of continuity"), so the SSPX's official leadership is now obliged to pretend that it is not breaking with Archbishop Lefebvre. Thus, like most politicians of the last 500 years, these SSPX leaders are talking to the right while walking to the left, because that is what a large number of people want, namely the appearance of Christianity without its substance (cf. II Tim. III, 1-5, especially verse 5). Like Descartes, such leaders "advance behind a mask", seeking to disguise their move to the left beneath words to the right, or words clearly ambiguous.

What happened in the SSPX last spring, as Fr Chazal says, is that the mask came off, because the SSPX leadership must have calculated that the time had come for it to make its open move back into the mainstream Church. Alas for these leaders, there emerged between March and June enough resistance to block at the SSPX General Chapter in July any immediate attempt to join the Newchurch. And so from that Chapter onwards, the mask has gone back on. But liberals do not convert, short of a miracle of grace, because leftwardness is their real religion. That is why the SSPX leaders are surely waiting for the modern world, flesh and devil to continue their work of pulling SSPX clergy and laity to the left so that within a few years at most there will no longer be any significant resistance, as there was last summer, to the SSPX rejoining the Newchurch.

This leaves the SSPX betwixt and between. However, as the common sense of Archbishop Lefebvre remarked, superiors mould subjects and not the other way round. That is why, unless the present SSPX leaders are displaced by a miracle, the SSPX is doomed to be dissolved within the Newchurch. One can hardly say the punishment would not have been deserved. But let us pray to the Mother of God for some miracles of her Divine Son's mercy.

    Kyrie eleison

  • His Excellency really came out swinging this week!

    God Bless Bishop Williamson.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

    Commentary:

    1) Fr Pfeiffer was in town recently, and he used the imagery of a battering ram.

    2) Once the battering ram impacts the door, it must be withdrawn, in order to ram again.

    3) In this case, Menzingen holds the battering ram.

    4) The ram itself is false obedience and practical accord.

    5) But do not think because the ram is being pulled back, the siege is ending.

    6) A battering ram must be pulled back before it can crash the gates again.

    7) And if we seem to see a pulling back in Menzingen, should we deduce they have decided to abandon the siege?

    8) Certainly not!

    9) The only logical reason to do so would be if there were a conversion in Menzingen.

    10) But since there has been no conversion in Menzingen, one must conclude that we are in the eye of he storm, awaiting the next crash of the battering ram.

    11) Talking to the right, while walking to the left, indeed.

  • Second Epistle Of Saint Paul To Timothy
    3
[1] Know also this, that, in the last days, shall come dangerous times. [2] Men shall be lovers of themselves, covetous, haughty, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, wicked, [3] Without affection, without peace, slanderers, incontinent, unmerciful, without kindness, [4] Traitors, stubborn, puffed up, and lovers of pleasures more than of God: [5] Having an appearance indeed of godliness, but denying the power thereof. Now these avoid.

Interesting, Seraphim -- did this come from a talk or conference recently?  If so,
which one?  Please reference for the sake of new readers or future researchers!

And here is the crux-of-the-EC paragraph, IMHO:

    Quote

What happened in the SSPX last spring, as Fr Chazal says, is that the mask came off, because the SSPX leadership must have calculated that the time had come for it to make its open move back into the mainstream Church. Alas for these leaders, there emerged between March and June enough resistance to block at the SSPX General Chapter in July any immediate attempt to join the Newchurch. And so from that Chapter onwards, the mask has gone back on.

Break --- one thing at a time...

Fr. Chazal is referenced.  He said the mask came off.  This alludes to the great
encyclical 129 years ago, Humanum genus of the venerable* Pope Leo
XIII, 20 April 1884, On Fɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყ.  And as such, the Bishop and Fr. Chazal are
making the implication without having to say so, that what is going on with the
Menzingen-denizens is nothing short of complicity with the condemned methods
    of Fɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყ!

We should recognize this!  It is very important.

*Pope Leo XIII deserves to be raised to Blessed, at least, but it is precisely due
    to this encyclical of his
that the Freemasonic death-grip on the Vatican prevents
his due recognition, and INSTEAD we get the cause of John XXIII, Paul VI and JPII
in the nefarious works -- notice: they've skipped JPI.  Ever wonder why?

    Quote

But liberals do not convert, short of a miracle of grace, because leftwardness is their real religion. That is why the SSPX leaders are surely waiting for the modern world, flesh and devil to continue their work of pulling SSPX clergy and laity to the left so that within a few years at most there will no longer be any significant resistance, as there was last summer, to the SSPX rejoining the Newchurch.

    Quiz questions:

Q.1:  Why are the SSPX leaders surely waiting for the modern world, flesh and
devil to continue their work of pulling SSPX clergy and laity to the left?

A.1:  The answer is in two parts;  Firstly, because the real religion of Liberals is
leftwardness, and the world, flesh and devil do the dirty work of promoting this
false god of Liberalism;  and Secondly, the bad fruit of pulling the clergy and laity
to the left will yield the bad fruit in due season of there no longer being any
significant resistance, as there was last summer, to the SSPX rejoining Newchurch.

Q.2:  Why do Liberals not convert, short of a miracle of grace?

A.2:  Because leftwardness is their real religion.

Q.3:  Why does Bishop Williamson attribute the observation of removing the
    mask to Fr. Chazal?

A.3:  Because the good bishop is a good bishop and he gives credit to where
credit is due, and he takes the baton of a good idea and he runs with it, as the
anchor runner in a relay does, to win the race for the whole team.

Q.4:  What does the "mask" observation have to do with our situation today?

A.4:  The relevance, my friends, will go right over the heads of Accordistas, who,
like Protestants to whom you attempt to explain the merit of good works or the
INFINITE grace of Sacramental Confession, they cannot recognize what is
happening to them as the Sun and Moon course across the sky, because they
are blind, being led by the blind, and they both fall into the pit.  But I digress..

The relevance is, that this "mask" to which Bishop and Father speak is none other
than the deception of the devil, which is why +Fellay was so secretive:  he fears,
and rightly so, the exposure of the truth, whereby his secret dealings will be
brought into the light of day for all to see.  He fears that the Catholic remnant,
among whom at least a portion of the SSPX Faithful are included, will become
apprised of what he has been up to in his secret Society dealings, pun intended.
One does not have to be a Freemason to behave like one.

There are a LOT more questions, and a LOT more answers.

But the good bishop puts down in one EC more that +Fellay
    puts down in a lifetime
, and that is why +F wants the ECs to
stop:  he is envious of their POWER, because he covets ALL
power.  He may have forgotten to notice:

    10. THOU SHALT NOT COVET THY NEIGHBOR'S GOODS.

..........when in fact, all he has done by throwing a stupid tantrum over the
dissemination of these ECs is to bring more attention to them, for crying out loud!

I would laugh but it is not funny.  HA!   :soapbox:

  • Last week Fr. Hewko said that folks say "There is no deal.  Bishop Fellay said we are back to 1974". They don't understand why the SSPX-SO are sounding the alarm.  Are the overreacting?  Acting prematurely?

Father said "A deal is coming! It is not a matter of if, but a matter of when ".  He asked, If you knew a woman is going to have an abortion,  when do you beg her to reconsider, after the first week?  First month? First trimester?  The SSPX is heading down the path to abort all that the Archbishop founded.  It is never too soon to sound the alarm.  It is never too soon to beg for a change in direction.  He repeated that all the priest's who have left or have been expelled sound the alarm not b/c they are rebels but b/c they truly love the SSPX and do not want to see her abort the work of the Archbishop.

Just as Fr Pfeiffer said the battering ram is in the down swing, Fr Hewko said they have just stepped back to let the dust settle a bit.  Once they think the fog has lifted,  they'll continue the journey to abort the work of the Archbishop. He also spoke of those priest's who are "on the fence "  he asked hypothetically, "when will they stand up and yell NO, just before the actual abortion takes place (+Fellay sitting with pen in hand to sign an agreement? ) or perhaps they'll yell NO after the abortion is complete (docuмents signed)?  In both cases, by then it'll. Be too late!!  He urged everyone of us to pray for those priests.

    Maybe indeed. Oramus!

Betwixt and between:  Bishop Williamson is a scholar of English literature,
and this phrase harkens back to many a volume of forgotten lore.

The common sense of the Archbishop remarked.  That's a complete
sentence, and one fully packed with meaning.  For the words of the
Archbishop are as timeless as the sun itself:  "superiors mould the subjects
and not the other way round." (Perhaps, had ABL been an English scholar
he may have said it that way!)

He returns to the refrain oft touched upon
But not dwelt upon too often lest it be
Worn thin, threadbare - It's too precious of a thing
For such a fate - it may after all be one
And the same as our temporal redemption!

    Displaced by a miracle......................

    The punishment................................

    ..would not have been undeserved.....

  • I have been asked to provide an English translation for the prayers below.

I guess I could do that, but any priest would know what these are, that is, any
traditional Catholic priest.  Sorry, I forgot I'm in the 21st century.  HAHAHHAHAHA

    But seriously,
You can read these in Latin, as I gave them below, and recall, if you have heard
and listened to lots of CTLMs, that you have heard them before, and I'm not
talking about just the way they end, with Per Dominum nostrum Jesum Christum
filium tuum, qui tecuм vivit et regnat in unitate Spiritus Sancti, Deus, per omnia
    saecula saeculorum.  Amen.

You should know that means Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth
and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
    Amen.

You should also find the first part of most of them familiar, too, in Latin!

The third one from the end is kind of an exception, as it comes from the Masses
for the intercession of Our Lady, this one being from Christmas to the Purification,
and is called "Vultum tuum" which are the first words of the Introit, ("Thy
countenance" in English, even though the first words in English of that same
Introit are "All the rich" which translate the Latin words "omnes divites.")
This is the Prayer or Collect for that Mass, found on p. 1403 of the Father
Lasance New Roman Missal:  "Deus, qui salutis aeternae, beatae Mariae
virginitate fecunda, humano generi praemia praestitisti:  tribue, quaesumus;  ut
ipsam pro nobis intercedere sentiamus, per quam meruimus auctorem vitae
suscipere, Dominum nostrum Jesum Christum filium tuum...

This same prayer is found in several places elsewhere, and it is recited by the
traditional Roman priest several times a year when he says daily Mass according
to the pre-1954 missal and rubrics.  I'm not so sure about the 1962 missal and
rubrics, though.  It might be the same, but it's probably at least a little different.
I'm saying this because the 1962 missal rubrics removes a lot of octaves,
commemorations, and other things, such that if you follow the priest's prayers
at pre-1955 CTLMs regularly, you will hear these prayers I have listed from time
to time, for he is given the opportunity to use them in the rubrics for other Masses
as commemorations or supplemental prayer options.  Many such pre-1955 Mass
liturgies have two or three Prayers or Collects.  In the spirit of such multiplicity of
supplication, like in litanies or Eastern Divine Liturgies that have literally DOZENS
of Kyrie eleison prayers ............. THIS "litany" HAS FIFTEEN prayers!

This Vultum tuum Mass prayer is kind of special because it contains a serious
    hint of the

                                        Protoevangelium

of Genesis 3:15 in the fact that it has the word "ipsam" which is the accusative
singular form of "ipsa," the word in Genesis that sets the first prophesy of Our
Lord apart from all of Scripture.  It means "By her own personal accord."  Our
Lady brings into our poor world by her own personal accord the Second Person
of the Blessed Trinity, and likewise shall crush the head of the infernal
serpent with her immaculate heel, by her own solitary action of stomping on
it.  The mystery, of course, is that she is Our Lord's instrument through whom
His power acts, so it isn't really truly her own, solitary action is it?  Well, yes it
is.  It is by her own choice to be the perfectly consenting cooperator with God's
grace that these things are done.  She has heard the commandment of God and
she keeps it.  "My soul doth magnify the Lord and my spirit hath rejoiced in God
my Savior."  She has known the will of God and she does it. "Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven." "My mother and my brethren are
they who hear the word of God and do it" (Lk viii. 21).

In this prayer, we say:  "O God, Who by the fruitful virginity of Blessed Mary, hast
bestowed upon mankind the rewards of eternal salvation, grant, we beseech
Thee, that we may evermore experience the intercession in behalf of whom we
have been found worthy to receive the author of life, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, Thy
Son, Who with Thee liveth and reigneth, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God,
    world without end.  Amen. "

We are asking for her continued intercession, which in this case, is either the
conversion of the Menzingen-denizens or, failing that, their removal, if necessary,
    by miraculous intervention.

There are 15 prayers here, which could be used for intentions in front of each
of 15 decades of the Rosary, in which case, each prayer in order harmonizes
    with the respective mystery.

I.e., the Annunciation ............ with ........... "Bow down your heads to God.  Let
our prayers ascend to Thee, O Lord, and repel all evil from Thy Church."
     (That
part is from the Prayer Over the People of Tuesday, First Week of Lent)  "Spare,
O Lord, spare Thy people, that while chastened by merited scourgings it may
    find solace in Thy pity."
(That's from Friday after Ash Wednesday)  Through our
Lord...," etc.  The idea is that remembering the humility of Our Lady at the
Annunciation (or in the Joyful Mysteries), we ask that God may repel the evil
that pernicious religious superiors would effect in the Church, and that since we
have already suffered just punishment by this kind of evil in the wake of
Vatican II, we may be spared further same even though we may deserve it.

Perhaps this is enough of an intention for starters for an entire Rosary, or
perhaps a third, that is, 5 decades, the shortest indulgenced portion of the
Rosary.  As it is practiced, one can eventually "advance" to using it for the
intention of the Annunciation only and then take the next one for the Visitation.

The Visitation ........... with ............. "O God, who desirest not the death of
sinners, but their repentance, look mercifully upon Thy people when they turn
unto Thee, that, while they show devotion to Thee, Thou mayst turn away from
them the scourges of Thine anger. Through our Lord...,"
    etc. (From Mass in Time
of Pestilence ~ as this scourge of perditious religious leaders, who have been
all too familiar with the unclean spirit of Vatican II, has caused us much grief
and misery.)  May we be rescued from the spiritual death of Modernism by the
grace that sanctified St. John the Baptist in the womb of his mother, St.
Elizabeth.  If this meditation is used for the Sorrowful Mysteries, we could be
asking that by the passion and death of Our Lord Jesus Christ, we beg the
forgiveness of our sins;  that by the Carrying of His Cross, we may receive
the grace of relief from the oppression of bad religious leadership;  by the
grace of His Crowning with Thorns, we may be blessed with the crowning of
a capable Superior General or even a good Pope;  that by His Scourging at
the Pillar, we may receive the signal grace of relief from the scourge of unjust
expulsions from the Society, invalid excommunications from the Conciliar
Church, and deliberate interference with the celebration of the Canonized
Traditional Latin Mass;  and by His sweating drops of His Precious Blood in the
Garden of Olives may we be saved from the scorn of our enemies who would
betray us like Judas did to Our Lord............. Things like that, as Fr. Frederick
Schell used to say, God rest his soul.

The Nativity .............. with ............... "Hear, O Lord the prayers of Thy
suppliants and punish not the sins of those who confess unto Thee;  but in Thy
bounty grant us both forgiveness and peace.  Through our Lord...,"
    etc. (From
Mass for the Remission of Sins;  Latin: Exaudi, quaesumus, Domine, supplicuм
preces, et confitentium tibi parce peccatis:  ut pariter nobis indulgentiam tribuas
    benignus, et pacem.
)  There is a prayer that asks Our Lady by the grace of
thy Virgin Birth of Our Lord in the day and age of peace, obtain for us forgiveness
of our sins and peace in our day, or something like that but I forget where I
read about it.  As we pray the O Antiphons of Advent beseeching God to send
His Son to us for our salvation, so now we pray this Prayer asking for God to
send to us the laver of regeneration that would provide us with a changed
Superior General and perhaps a changed Pope, but failing that, may they be
miraculously replaced with a competent priest of God to who is able to fulfill
the duties of the office to which he is called.

If this third prayer is used for the 5 decade or 15 decade Rosary, it can harmonize
with the Glorious mysteries by recalling that Our Lord rose again from the dead
on Resurrection Sunday for the forgiveness of sins and peace in the world;  He
ascended into heaven so that the Holy Ghost would descend after the first
novena of nine days of prayers of His suppliants;  the Holy Ghost descended on
the 12 Apostles who would emerge to hear Confessions and dispense
forgiveness;  Our Lady was assumed into heaven where she now hears the
prayers of these same suppliants and when we cooperate with God's will as she
has clearly requested of us by consecrating Russia to her Immaculate Heart,
she will intercede in a most miraculous way, and perhaps she may be able to
give us a little taste of that great victory by giving us a truly holy Sperior
General for a change, and/or perhaps even such a Pope;  And as she is crowned
a good Queen of Heaven and Earth in eternity may she "crown" a good Society
Superior and/or Pope in our valle of tears!

    Things like that.

To do this with each of these prayers requires thinking about what you are
praying for, and it's not just saying the words.  It gets you involved, and it
removes any latent monotony that may have been there previously.

Three down, 12 more to go............

Oh, I almost forgot to explain, that there are no such prayers for the overthrow
of Modernism in the Church, already composed AFAIK.  If you know of some
then please post them.  I can't find any.  And this is what I am trying to do with
these standard prayers -- beseech God to abolish this scourge on Holy Mother
Church with the infinite treasure (thesaurus) of graces and benefits that He has
in store for us.  You see, the synthesis of all heresies already has all these
prayers arrayed for its abolition, all we need to do is use them!  Each of the
prayers treats of an aspect of Modernism.  Now I am not saying that my feeble
attempt is sufficient.  Far be it from me to be capable of providing something that
the Church herself has not provided in 105 years since Pascendi came into
being.  I'm sure there is someone out there more capable for this task.  I'm
putting forward an idea, to use our approved prayers in a way that combined
they do more than they would individually, especially when used as meditations
before, or intentions during the prayer of the Rosary.

Nor do you need to abandon the intentions that you already have, for there is
no limit to the number of intentions you can have for the Rosary.

But you should be always praying for an increase in your love of God - we
can never have too much of that;  for our own sanctification by way of making
a good confession and OFTEN, at least once a month, and for FINAL
PERSEVERANCE, for that is something that cannot be merited, but it is
something that you can effectively obtain by supplication - by praying for
it DAILY.  To have the grace of perseverance at the moment of death is the
greatest treasure we could ever expect to have:  it's more valuable than all the
riches of the world,  Plus quam pretiosus omnes divitae terrae est.

"One day through the Rosary and the Scapular I will save the world."

Words spoken to St. Dominic by the Blessed Virgin Mary in the year 1208.

Maybe that is where we are at today:  "But let us pray to the Mother of God for some miracles of her Divine Son's mercy."

    Maybe indeed. Oramus!

    Quote

This leaves the SSPX betwixt and between. However, as the common sense of Archbishop Lefebvre remarked, superiors mould subjects and not the other way round. That is why, unless the present SSPX leaders are displaced by a miracle, the SSPX is doomed to be dissolved within the Newchurch. One can hardly say the punishment would not have been deserved. But let us pray to the Mother of God for some miracles of her Divine Son's mercy.

    Kyrie eleison
