In some cases, there was a "couple" coordinator, but the e-mail address was clearly that of the woman -- or both were given, and it explicitly said "use her e-mail".
That's very common practice because women tend to stay at home and have more access to e-mail than the men who are off at work. Since you work exclusively from home, this may not have occurred to you. In this way, the women serve as secretaries for the men. They're at home so they can check e-mail frequently and then get the message to their husband if it's urgent.
You're right, I'm probably a bit "biased" in that regard. And I'll also admit that the "couple" ones are all complete mysteries as far as who does the real work. Maybe they both do; who knows.
I'll just redirect my focus on A) chapels that don't exist because there are no men to rise to the occasion and there happen to be no strong women around either (whose fault is it there is no chapel in such a case? ALL of the men who should be equipped, or SOME of the women who are able?)
as well as B) those chapels where NO men are available, even after-hours, to do this important work.
I won't conjecture for a second that these women could be over-bearing feminists who wrenched the jobs away from willing men. Instead, I'm sure that -- once again -- the men have let us down and the women are filling a void that needs to be filled.
Better to have a woman coordinator than no chapel!
But that doesn't let the men off the hook, I say.
Seriously -- what do these men do instead with their non-working hours? Are they working 2 jobs? Watching lots of TV? Reading comics? Working and taking care of a household? (that would be the only legitimate answer)
I'm just afraid that for some men, the Faith isn't an important hobby. It should be our life, our hobby and our biggest passion.
I should also point out that any of these "busy men" that have sons -- you can't complain when they don't place the Faith first in their lives.
They are watching you and taking notes. Your priorities will become their priorities, I can practically guarantee you.
