The cave is a primitive form of the cinema, or, can be
thought of as an allegory of show business, where the
performers are never really made known to the audience
but only abstractions of their persons are known.

When the freed prisoner returns the captives want no part
of his stories and witness of the 'real' world outside, and
when he does not abandon them, they KILL him, for they
prefer to remain in their dark ignorance, which they value
more than the very life of their erstwhile friend.

It not only has ties to ignorance but in the spiritual venue
it implies an unwillingness to relinquish attachment to sin.  

Of course, the secular pundits cannot 'go there' because
even if they have college tenure they lack the faith, to
their own detriment in fact but they, like the chained
prisoners, cannot imagine the wonders of God's life and
love that is there for them if they would only learn from the
one whom they have killed, as an allegory of Christianity
and the Faith, but also who is a figure of the Christ.

Too many secular pundits are Jєωs, so to teach this obvious
interpretation is inherently 'anti-Semitic' and it is therefore
shunned, because there's no business like Shoah business.
