I try to reflect often on the opening words....."What matters is salvation. Among all the affairs of men, salvation is the only thing that matters. If a man saves his soul, all that he paid was negligible; if he loses his soul, everything else he did comes to waste and bitter memory".

It's a very powerful opening. It's both scary and comforting at the same time. On the one hand, all your achievements and all that you worked for in this life mean nothing if you aren't saved. All your life would have been in vain if you fell down at the last step and brought damnation upon yourself. But then on the other hand, all your regrets and mistakes mean nothing if you are saved.

Yes, well said and actually, pretty much the rest of the book on the doctrine of exclusive salvation is as powerful as the opening words. I highly recommend it be read by everyone.
