I thought this was an important point in another thread, a bottom line, and worthy of it's own thread for discussion:

That is the bottom line, there is no difference between the FSSP and the Neo-SSPX.

If we obey, follow Fr. Rostand's line of thinking, then we would be nuts to go through all the work we do to have the mass. We should have just switched over to the local Indult mass, Eastern Rite Mass, or conservative Novus Ordo, back in 1988.

Anyone that believes what Fr. Rostand says and still goes through all the expense and work of building and maintaining chapels, buying houses and maintaining them for the preists to live, buying cars, paying airfare, feeding the priests, mowing the lawns etc., would have to be a lunatic.

If concilarist Rome has valid bishops, valid priest, valid sacraments, and a valid mass, why should someone go through all that work at an SSPX chapel, when they can just show up every Sunday (or weekday) at the local Indult mass, Eastern Rite Mass, or conservative Novus Ordo, put $1 in the basket and leave without having to raise a finger to work?

BY the way, do not all the Eastern Rite Catholic churches have exactly the same "personal prelature", that is being offered to the SSPX?

In fact the ERC churches have more freedom than the Neo-SSPX will have, since the ERCc are given by the local diocene bishops, the equivalent of the "minority rights", and "minority owned business" status (and whatever that phrase is where the blacks are given more opportunity that whites in order to balance past restrictions imposed on them. What is that word?).

The Eastern Rites are not a personal prelature. They have their own rites and hierarchy. They are not subject to the Latin Rite bishops. The SSPX would be subject in some things to the local bishop. They would need his permission to start an apostolate in his diocese, and in Bishop Tissier's interview this week, he says that newly founded apostolates would also have to be approved by the local bishop.
