What size are linen lavabo towels?

  • My mother and I have some good quality white linen material and wish to make lavabo towels for the Resistance. I've done some research and the sizes I found for the towels are 17x11 and 10x14 inches (not including hem of course). Which is right? I would have asked this in the Resistance Chapel section of the forum but few people read there and I would really like to have an answer.

We know the proper hem and how (and where) to embroider the red cross on them, but the size is in dispute.

    Thank you!

  • Actually, there is no mandatory size for these. There are common sizes, but you can be a bit large if you want. They just should be linen, clean, etc. and a red cross is certainly desirable.

The style of hem can also vary -- unless you're looking to duplicate a given chapel you're accustomed to or something :)

I haven't managed to acquire this item yet myself. Nor a lavabo dish. The credence table has the other things (cruets, paten).

Some things are harder to get on Amazon.com.

Thank you, thats what I wanted to know. Didn't want to start cutting and sewing until I was sure. Hope to make enough that the priests will have a good supply of them.
