  • The key to this whole thing:

"Later, we learned that Mother Mariana had left a prophecy with this instruction: “When the Franciscans will refuse to carry down the Statue, send two nuns to the corner of La Plaza Grande and there they will find the ones who will replace them.” In fact, some days before, the Franciscans had sent an excuse to the Convent stating they could not bring the Statue down because they had to attend a Liberation Theology meeting."

Here we have the Franciscans returning to carry the statue. Atila seems to indicate that the TFP was supposed to be a permanent replacement.

"In 1978 Mother Rosario... officially asked “in the name of Our Lady and mine” for him to provide men to bring down the Statue of Our Lady of Good Success from “now until the end of the world."

If both accounts are true, the first one sounds like a conditional stop-gap measure from the saintly foundress. The second one sounds like an Abbess who might have attempted to promise more than what was strictly in her power to do. Atila shows here once again that he is willing to overlook the current state of both the TFP and the sisters in Quito in favor of their founders, while the legacy of St. Francis and Archbishop Lefebvre are roundly ignored.

And why oh why did this take 4 months to write? Even better: why wait 40 years to mention this?

Also note how the only names Atila listed are long dead and cannot be reached for comment. Everybody else must remain anonymous. Plinio wanted me to write about VII! Mother Rosario wrote a letter to Plinio! Mother Marianna left an unwritten prophecy with the sisters about the TFP! The statues were too heavy! SSPX paid off the Archbishop! The Franciscans were called last minute! The Franciscans are rampantly ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ! The statue looked sad (it looked the same)! We are forced every single time to take his word for it. I can take one or possibly two instances, but this is turning into a replacement for citing verifiable sources. Unfortunately this has now become a resounding hallmark of Atila's career.

Someone please tell me, in all the years TFP carried on the tradition in Quito, what did they do to try to bring the Franciscans back into the picture? No matter what happens with that priest who was arrested for child abuse, it's hardly enough to rely on "common talk" to convict the entire order of ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity and therefore prove that they aren't worthy to take their rightful position back in the feast day processions.

Archbishop Travez may be guilty of a great number of sins, but this effort in granting the Franciscans the primary place in the procession isn't one of them. For all his emphasis on common talk, it would have been far better had Atila remained silent until something more substantial showed itself. It's simply not enough to convict the SSPX or an Archbishop of the Church with anonymous hearsay. Sometimes silence is needed to weather a storm. I'm certain Mr. Guimarães wouldn't object to TFP taking almost 30 years to (weakly) refute John Amour's statements.

So if I don't hear from Mr. Guimarães, I guess it's safe to assume he agrees with me. "Qui tacet consentire videtur" am I right?
    Fortuna finem habet.

  • Please use correct grammar in your lame attempts to attack me.
The word "your" should have been "you're".
Thank you for the typo correction Prof. Cera
Of all the things you've posted, you're at least correct on this one. :)
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi
