  • This date I have received an email from sspx.org updates with the heading   "The SSPX's novena for the next papal conclave begins today!"
    I stared in disbelief!
SSPX have truly lost their way. It is hard enough to convince the masses that Rome is dead but when the supposed light bearer falls into the ditch there is a problem.
It is time for those in the Catacombs to consolidate!
    Fr Luc

  • Hello Fr Luc-

Are you comfortable telling s about your general location and doctrinal position (e.g., Novus Ordo conservative/indultarian; sspx; sedevacantist; Feenyite; etc)?
Rom 5: 20 - "But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more."

  • Fr Luc, the SSPX has always officially recognized the Roman hierarchy.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • As to who I am http://www.essan.org/Jesus/jesus.html

Yes sspx have always recognised the current pontiff.
But when we take a cold hard look at Paul VI's new rite of Episcopal Consecration a division is born.
Sspx accept the validity of this rite and hence must accept any new pontiff.
If one rejects this rite then a dividing line is drawn in the sand. I.e. between the old rite and the new.
The last Pope who had been consecrated in the old rite was John Paul II. The wise person leaves to one side any criticism of him and focuses on the fact that he was a validly consecrated Bishop elected Pope by a majority of validly consecrated Bishops.
Sspx are now part of the problem and not part of the solution!

  • I'm just saying, considering they recognize the papacy, it's not all that indicative of anything particularly tumultuous that they're calling for prayers for the conclave.  There are other signs, certainly.  I don't know that this is one of them.  In fact, I would imagine that even sedevacantists would pray about the conclave-- unless they were sedefinitists.  Pray for a miracle, but pray nonetheless.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
    Praised be Jesus ad Mary!
