Recall this quote from Sacred Scripture, which is one of the best quotes as to why every Catholic should study apologetics (defense of the Catholic Faith and dogmas)

1 Peter 3:15
"But sanctify the Lord Christ in your hearts, being ready always to satisfy every one that asketh you a reason of that hope which is in you."

Keeping also in mind this quote:
Isaias 42:3
"The bruised reed he shall not break, and smoking flax he shall not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth."

I think it behooves us who support the Resistance to be on our best behavior, not giving the enemies of God any reason to mock. We shouldn't give them any rope to hang us with.

We should make sure that we are charitable, circuмspect, balanced, sane, rational, and completely devoted to God and His Church.

We should make the charges of our enemies seem ridiculous when they call us rumor mongers (we only post factual articles and quotes), rash (we give sober reasons for all our actions), petty (we talk about grave and weighty topics, giving rational and sober criticisms when necessary), and so forth.

And how can they call us wicked sons of the devil when we spend dozens of hours and/or thousands of dollars volunteering and building up chapels in various ways, unto the greater glory of God? That sounds like men in love with Christ and His Church to me, not men who have resigned themselves to Hell.

If we are busy building up the Church (both materially, and spiritually, one soul at a time), we will be following the advice of St. Peter:

Quote from: 1 Peter Ch. 2
Dearly beloved, I beseech you... [12] Having your conversation good among the Gentiles: that whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by the good works, which they shall behold in you, glorify God in the day of visitation.
...
[15] For so is the will of God, that by doing well you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

If we are "on our best behavior", as it were, we can help those weaker souls not be scandalized by the Resistance, or fall for the propaganda of our enemies. Yes, it would be humanly understandable if we criticized these weaker souls for being uninformed and/or easily misled. But the quote above (from Isaias) is applied to Our Lord. He condescended to the weakness of our human nature. Also remember the early Christians, who were persecuted and maligned everywhere. But people saw how much charity the Christians had for one another, and many converted to the Faith!

That's the only way to overcome evil, slander, and propaganda: Be a good example at all times.

  • Okay, I'll go first.
I apologize if I offended or scandalized anybody... except for the Jєωs.

Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

  • A very good reminder and encouragement. Men will know that you are of the Brethren when they hear it in your words and see it in your works.
Always done for the love of Christ and in Truth and Love.

  • I have been following this forum with sadness for years.  Sad because of the division among the most loyal children of the Church who for their love of the Church have been fighting each other because of confusion.  I welcome this new post reminding us all to be good examples.  My favorite chant is "Mandatum novum do vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos dicit Dominus."

As my friends left the SSPX for the Resistance or for Sedevacantism, I have clung to the picture that we are in a ship that was overrun by pirates and we have five choices:  to jump overboard and deal with the sharks, or to engage in suicidal frontal attack to kill the pirates, or to wait in dark passages to kill each pirate one by one until we outnumber them and regain control of the ship, or to pour our energy into checking all the oarsmen and slaves in the galley if they have all received the most necessary Sacraments in order to die in the state of grace.  Or we can simply fight each other because we have each taken different ways of dealing with the crisis.  When pirates invite one or two from our group to discuss the direction the ship must take, those of us who are not invited can either fight and/or pray for our representatives who are standing before the pirates... but it does not change the fact that we are all in the same boat:  the pirates and us and the slaves in the galleys.  Hence, my joy in the post reminding us all to be good examples.

May the Holy Ghost, on this feast of Pentecost,  enfold us all with His sevenfold gifts and keep us faithful until death that we may win the crown of life.  Amen.

While I appreciate your sentiments I do not believe that the leadership of the SSPX are standing before the pirates.  I believe they are pirates.

    God bless and carry on.

I've heard a similar sentiments, among the ones you expressed above.
It was in neo-trad circles, anecdotally labeled as as a "circular firing squad".

That analogy does well, for awhile to silence criticisms and disagreements, but not for long.

In your scenario, the xSPX would be analogous to the Marines, hiding in the hold of the ship and not coming out to fight, while the pirates pick us off one by one.

Then later, we come to find out that the xSPX Marines have been clandestinely communicating with the pirates by radio, telling them where we are and helping them to get us.

Pirates are an ugly lot, not like the glamorous Disney-Jєω Pirates.

Traditionally, they and their collaborators have been executed by drowning or hung by the neck until dead.

As Catholics, we should always do our best to exemplify good behavior.

But how convenient it is for xSPX supporters to blame us for "lack of charity", as their leaders hand us over to the pirates.

  • Nova et vetera,

    1. I note your name "new and old", which sounds like the neo-SSPX in a nutshell -- trying to combine "old things" (Tradition) with "new things" (Novus Ordo, Conciliar Church).

    2. There is no scenario, circuмstance, or analogy where it is honorable to work with bad men who have sworn to drink our blood and eat our children.

That is the level of evil we're dealing with. We're talking about the FAITH, destruction of the CHURCH, destruction of SOULS, and other matters that couldn't get any more grave.

You don't compromise or "do a deal" with such men. It doesn't matter what deceptive talk the devil whispers in your ear -- "you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil", or "no, you shall not die the death."

Remember, they call him the Father of Lies for a reason.

Likewise, the lies being told the SSPX by the Conciliar authorities are just that: lies.

Remember, at the highest levels, the men in charge of the Church now are Freemasons who hate God and they know what they are doing. They have full malice. Most Trads know this. But some think they are "just deceived" or "mistaken" and "maybe we can get in there and convert them." What ridiculous naivite!

Perhaps a few lower ranking clergy are deceived or of good will. But the ones holding the reins of power are NOT. Rome is not converted back to the Faith. Until that happens, it is foolish to put yourself in their power.

But there are none so deceived as those who endeavor to deceive themselves!
