  • Hello everyone!  Does anyone have any first-hand news, comments, pictures, videos of the recent Virginia Masses and conferences? How many Resistance priests were in attendance, and did anyone have a chance to meet/speak with them? It would be a consolation for those of us who were unable to attend and would be greatly appreciated. God bless!

  • Related to me from someone who was there on Saturday:

    -  About 200 people attended Mass on Saturday
    -  Many people stood for the Mass because there weren't enough seats
    -  Bishop Williamson's sermon was very inspirational  :incense:
    -  About 300 attended the banquet
    -  The food was simple but delicious (chicken, salad, cheesecake) :ready-to-eat:
    -  True to form, Fr. Pfeiffer visited every table at the dinner to greet everyone before he sat down (if he ever did)
    -  Pablo was there with his crew and was very well-behaved
    -  Fr. Pfeiffer was observed issuing orders to Pablo  :drillsergeant:
    -  Most of the attending priests (about 18-20) were very tall and had brown hair
    -  A fallen away novus ordo Catholic who attended commented at the dinner "I feel very comfortable in this room because I know if I choke on my food several hundred people would come to my aid."
    - This same person, observing Fr. Pfeiffer, said "Hmm, Fr. Charisma."
    -  Mr. and Mrs. Pfeiffer were there.  They are both slim.  LOL  Mr. Pfeiffer is a very tall and strong looking man and seems to have the energy of his priest son.
    - Fr. Tim Pfeiffer did not appear to be there.

    That's what I was told.

  • In the video of Saturday's Mass you could see empty seats towards the front...

You're right.  But I'm passing on what I was told and I believe my source.  Maybe they didn't know there were seats available up front (arrived late?).

  •  :dancing:The exact Saturday count at Mass was 216.  The empty chairs in the front, Gospel side were reserved for the altar boys who were in the processions only.  There were a few seats here and there, not many.  People were standing for lack of seats on Sunday.  The attendance was approximately 300 at the Bishop's Mass.  9:00 Mass in the Church was standing room only.  Don't know about 7:00.
    Banquet was very good. :ready-to-eat:
Fr.  Pfeiffer was his usual self.  A n.o. woman at my table said, "He's not what I expected.  I thought he'd be angry.  Had he been raised in New York?  He's more like a New Yorker than a Southerner."   :scratchchin:
H.E. Bishop Williamson was a bit subdued, IMO.  But he displayed his usual humor on Sunday at the picnic.   :incense:
:reading:Dr. White's talk was excellent.  # all the others. Is anyone putting Dr. White's talk on line?
:confused1: Zeitun-  Mrs. Pfeiffer is very slender, on the short side, short whitish-blond hair.  I think you mistook the Pfeiffer's friend for Mr. Pfeiffer.  He is a little shorter than Fr. Joseph, and has the same body size and shape.  You'd have seen a strong facial resemblance.  Fr. Tim has his mother's physique and his father's temperament.  He was not present as he is in the Philippines.  Fr. Joe has his father's physique, his mother's temperament and personality.
:confused1:There were priests of all sizes, shapes, hair color.  A FEW are tall; Bp. Williamson, Fr. Hewko, Fr. Ortiz, Fr. Faire, Fr. Voigt.  Fr. Tomas Aquino and the other French priests are rather short.  The Brothers were short.  Fr. Pfeiffer, Fr. Ringrose, Fr. Girouard are of medium height.  The only brown-haired priest is Fr. Hewko.  Fr. Pfeiffer's hair is nearly black, as is two young priests from the monastery in Brazil.  The rest had gray, white or 'salt&pepper' hair.
(Zeitun, are you very short that all the priests seemed tall?)
:drillsergeant:Pablo WAS well-behaved.  That is because Fr. Pfeiffer kept him in line, also, because he behaves around Fr.'s parents.
:guitar:The picnic was not that well-attended due to rain, many people had to get on the road or catch flights to be back home on Monday.  The weather cleared up after an hour, and some of the MacDonald boys played Irish music.  Bp. W. seemed to enjoy himself.  Fr. Pfeiffer visited everyone, even played a little volleyball with the children.
Overall, it was a good conference.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

Catholics never sit in the front, we all like to slide into a back pew unnoticed  :furtive:

Wow, my informant really botched the job!  He didn't have credentials but his rates were low.  And he had his own cassock so he could blend in.  I think his name was Arno or something like that.   :reporter:

Zeitun-  You actually hired a cossock-clad informant?  (And they say I'm certifiable?!)
The only major mistake was the physical description of Mr. Pfeiffer.  Picture Fr. Joseph in 35 to 40 years, and a bit shorter.  The priests were mostly sitting down at the banquet.  If your Arno didn't know them or get a good look beforehand, it would be hard to determine their heights. A few of the priests who served Mass with Bp. W. were tall.  Fr. Hewko, Fr. Ortiz, Fr. Voigt.  Maybe Arno is colorblind?  Most of the priests had gray/white hair.  So long as you didn't pay much, you got your money's worth.

    Frances,

You are too cute.  "Arno" paid me to attend.  And English not being his first language I think accounts for some of the problems in his reporting.
