All news reports said the excommunication of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre was lifted by Pope Benedict XVI.

Somewhere on this board there is a letter that Sean Johnson got as an answer to his inquiry from the Vatican, and it clearly says that the excommunication of Abp. Lefebvre was not lifted.

Actually, it seems impossible to me for it to happen, since you cannot "unexcommunicate" a dead person.

If the Vatican people were really honest, they would declare that the excommunications were null. This can logically be done regarding the deceased.

Dear Cera
You should also realize that the lifting of the excommunications were only for the 4 bishops and also it was not a declaration of nullity. It only removed the punishment not the guilt. Read the docuмents from the Vatican, they are plain as day.

The last several were not pope because they denied Jesus Christ as the only way to God our Father in heaven.

Archbishop Lefebvre chose God instead of man.  He was Catholic.  May he rest in peace.
What exactly are you trying to say?

I remember that, totally corresponds to the official Vatican docuмents.

Only the person himself gets to decide whether or not he's a sede.
And Vigano has not called himself sede. In fact, he seems to avoid the S word.
