Title: US district of the SSPX
Post by: jman123 on June 26, 2018, 08:17:30 AM
How important to the order is the US district of the SSPX? France is pretty big for the SSPX. What about the USA?

What is the unit for measuring importance?  Money?  Most likely.

The new Virginia seminary is said to cost $64 million. While the property was donated to the SSPX, this is still a hefty sum.
Don't know of any other projects like it.

If the unit of measure is Real-estate... i.e. independent trad chapel takeovers, I'm guessing USA is still number one!

If the unit of measure is People, would France be the most important?

Of course, France is important because it's the Society's cultural base.

If the SSPX lost the hearts & minds of the French, Menzingen knows they will thoroughly scorned and lose their historical base.

It's nice to know this thought keeps Msgr. Fellay awake at night :chef:

The USA is where the money is.
Less than 4% of Catholics go to mass in France, and France's population is just 65 million, so I do not think that the numbers are there. Plus, "tradition" in France is liberal by America standards (Dialogue mass, most women do not wear vails, no Leonine Prayers, girls wear pants and date...…..)

The seminary will cost $100+ when completed. ALL the properties of the SSPX were paid for by donations, so that is irrelevant, the question is how are the donations used. The seminary is an ostentatious expense and totally unnecessary. It is like a person winning the lottery and going nuts and spending all the money on building a castle for himself. The SSPX could have done additions to Winona for $5 million. Even that expense is something to seriously think over, when you consider that they "graduate" 8 seminarians a year.

Religion is a very profitable business, unique to itself and unlike any business. From a businessman's perspective the angle of the SSPX is:

A group of trads build a chapel and over time fill it with other Catholics, then they call the SSPX to take the place of their independent priest who left or died or was a nut, and the SSPX trades their priest for all the property. They have a seminary that was bought with donations or given to them, and the seminary expenses are all paid by donations, zero expense, and the seminary puts out priests that bring in properties and money. Trade a priest for property and income from donations.

Good point... "The mysterious cloud behind the SSPX's Virginia seminary funding"

(http://www.newseminaryproject.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/east-elevation-homepg.jpg):

Zionist and Jaidhoff fund trustee, Max Krah, was the first to donate.

$100 million cost you say... is hard to comprehend?   Is their concrete seeded with silver flakes?

Surely the seminary project cries to Heaven for an audit!

Why are American trads more conservative than European ones?
