  • When the Arians held sway in the Church all bishops but one fell in line.

When the protestant revolt came to England all bishops but one fell in line.

When the V2 revolution came, all bishops but one fell in line.

When betrayal reared its ugly head in the SSPX, all bishops but one fell in line.

It appears that God has established a rule of one...

  • Saint Hilarious is referred to as the "Hammer of the Arians".

When Vatican 11 came around, there was  MORE than one bishop that did not fall in line!

  • Neither of them achieved the same recognition as ABL or Athanasius.  My point is that each time there is a major crisis there is one Bishop who rises above the rest, not that he is absolutely alone in his position, but that he is recognized as the leader, the standard-bearer, the voice of truth.  I think history will view Bishop Williamson in the same way.

That is a very good clarification.

    I agree.

Not quit true: there have been several major crisis in which one could not say there was one bishop who rose above the others.  For example, during Luther's rebellion, or during the Western Schism, or during the crisis of antipope Anacletus II...
