Some Trads REALLY hate the idea of moving to a Dialogue Mass, or pretty much anything that drags them out of their missal and personal prayers during Mass.
A Dialogue Mass is a lot like a sung Mass, only the Kyriale (Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Agnus Dei) is recited by all rather than sung by all. There are other parts that are recited by all as well; usually parts the servers would say.
It is done in Latin though, and it doesn't encroach on the Priest's parts at all. So I ask trads everywhere: What's the problem?
I don't see the problem with greater participation by the Faithful. It seems to me more the way Mass should be. Mass has several aspects that are often overlooked by Trad Catholics, because of what has happened with Bugnini, the New Mass, and the Conciliar religion.
Here is my point: The Mass has several aspects, NONE of which should be OVER-EMPHASIZED OR IGNORED:
* Making present again the Sacrifice of Calvary
* Coming-together of the members of the Body of Christ to worship together -- Community
* The Lord's Supper
* Feeding our minds with the Gospel ("The Word of the Lord") and other Scripture
Etc.
It also has 4 ends -- Adoration, Propitiation, Petition, and Thanksgiving.
I think it would be a step up to have the Faithful united in mind, body and spirit making the responses during the Mass, rather than reading their various prayerbooks and works of devotion during Mass. Mass is NOT an act of private devotion, so why should it walk, talk, smell, and taste like one?
P.S. Another shocker for you -- there was a very real need for a Vatican II. Unfortunately the council was hijacked by the liberals, modernists, and liturgical experimenters. What do you suppose was in Archbishop Lefebvre's schemata that were thrown out? Nothing at all?
P.P.S. Myself saying all this should have quite a bit of weight, because I have no Novus Ordo past. I have as much revulsion for the Novus Ordo as I do for any Protestant service. My comfort level at the Novus Ordo is about zero. I'm being completely doctrinal and objective here.
