I'm very familiar with the latter, as it hits kind of close to home.

Let's just say that some families end up with 4 out of 4 or 5 out of 5 children being "leaders", not necessarily successful at life, but independent thinkers, taking the lead even at play, wanting/needing to be in charge, etc.

For example, in a family like this, if one child takes Spanish and masters it, the other kids will CROSS OFF that language like it's not even a possibility (I can't be playing 2nd fiddle to my big brother!) so they'll pick another language: French. Then the 3rd sibling will one-up them both and pick an exotic language like Japanese or Chinese and the 4th child might decide that he won't get into languages at all.

And so on.

Some "alpha males" have a hard time being in a #2 (or lower) position in anything they're involved in.

Good observations. The only thing is we don't know what kind of position Fr. Doran will be in with the Maronites.

We need to pray for him.

Fr Duran is now
assistant pastor at Saint Anthony of the desert , Fall River ,Ma.Maronite church .he is assisting Fr Joe Keddo .

An interesting development regarding Father Doran. Quite a few people involved in the Indult Latin Mass scene in Ireland now attend Eastern liturgies. There seems to be a renewed interest in it.
