Great post Neil. [Thank you!] The last 2 lines remind me of a story I heard. You will have to suspend your belief a bit, but it's worth it. A long time ago I heard a very conservative novus ordo priest (who has since gone trad) tell it from the pulpit one Sunday morning.
Pope Paul VI upon arriving in heaven put in a request for a car to buzz around in. Eventually, the request was honored when he was given an old beat up Volkswagen Beetle. He was none too happy with his model and things only got worse when this super big Rolls Royce started running him off the highway time after time. He finally managed to get the license plate number and immediately went running to St. Peter demanding to know who this individual was.
St. Peter dutifully looked up the plate number in his record books and came back with an answer: "Oh, that's Philomena. Remember her? She's the one you ran off the calendar."
.
Cute story, klas. Especially in light of the planned so-called canonization of Paul VI later this year.
.
We need a thread on Paul VI.
Ultimately it would hurt our case to keep putting cars in heaven, though.
(Especially
Rolls Royce and
Volkswagen, makes coming from unquestionably anti-Catholic economic entities.)
