Title: The strength of the Catholic Resistance...
Post by: Machabees on April 04, 2013, 12:16:08 AM
Has anyone noticed that out of all of the "breaks" the SSPX had in all of these years, since 1970, that the present "Catholic Resistance" is the only one that has the FULL attention of the SSPX leaders?

In other words, when the other groups had made a "stand" against the SSPX leaders and left because of it (The Nine, FSSP, St. John's Society, The Good Shepherd, etc.), none of these others have captured the attention, moved, and steered the debate as much as the Catholic Resistance.

Even the press mediums of Menzingen on down have been very busy writing articles to spin the facts only to leave ambiguities, including the Cor Unum; as with the different leaders giving many "interviews" and conferences with Chapel hall meetings that left them with more failures; and Fr. Rostand doing "employee" interviews to try to "offset" the strength and clarity of the arguments from the Catholic Resistance.

Still all to no avail...the Catholic Resistance is True in its form.

As it is said, if God is blessing the Catholic Resistance to keep the Faith, who can stop it?

Very lucid observation.

I had not made that connection, thanks for pointing it out.

At the time the others left the Society was still standing firmly in tradition, now the shoe is on the other foot and the Society is the one losing it's grip and wanting to play footsie with the conciliarists.

Agreed, I had not made the connection either - one thing is that the internet payed a huge part I guarantee it - at least that's how I found out about it. Read about it first here on Cathinfo.

Yes, I think the internet has played a huge part. It has allowed instant information to a large amount of people who then spread it to others. It has made it much harder to keep the truth about what happens covered up, and harder to muzzle those who wish to speak up anonymously or otherwise. I believe Men. would pull the plug on the internet except for the higher-ups if it were in their power to do so.

Really?  Was the Society really standing firm in tradition?  Maybe the ones who left saw the slide of the 1950's (you know the changes slowly being adapted) being adapted by the Society.  Just this past week here on CI people have been complaining about the adaptations of Holy Week.  These were some of the very reasons the 9 left.  Something to think about.

You are right, Miseremini,Bp Fellay and his cohorts have been working to merge the SSPX into Ecclesie Dei for a long, long time. Some of those in Econe who were pushing the Archbishop to expel priests in 1983 were already looking to soften up tradition, to merge with Rome. When  SSPX priests left to join St. Johns  or the Institute, it is now pretty obvious that the SSPX leadership 's heart was really with those deserters, and they were longing for the day they could have an agreement. Had the good Lord not given us this Internet, there is. Humanly speaking, no way we would have been able to mount such a resistance-- and we would simply think these priests."disappeared" into the SSPX black hole.Glory be to God!

They didn't leave. The changes in Holy Week were a novelty. Even blogs like Rorate Coeli admit this in their criticisms of it. People claim "liturgical timebombs" starting at Vatican II but the liturgical movement has its base prior to that.

How many people on these forums have seen, let alone, heard of such practices of a broad stole or folded chasuble used by the deacon during Lent?

If modernism didn't exist until Vat 2 why did St Pius X dedicate his papacy to destroying it?
