  • Proof that they don't understand how the SSPX works:

    Quote
Having just two bishops to oversee such a large number of priests is unusual. By comparison, the Archdiocese of Chicago, with a similar number of diocesan priests, has seven active bishops to serve its clergy.

And I would like to know the source of this number:

    Quote
These two Bishops are also called upon to confer the sacrament of confirmation on the some 600,000 SSPX faithful...

  • We had a 50th anniversary celebration at our chapel this weekend and +Fellay was among the priests who came, I asked +Fellay about when will they consecrate new bishops, he said quite seriously; "oh don't worry, they're coming."

I'm surprised the sentence he used to reply to you didn't include the word 'prudence'.

RUMOUR in my tiny town is that 6 bishops are to be consecrated...a bishop for  ~ 100K souls...! Maybe Fr. J. Emily, for one. ? Don't quote me on that, k?

  • Since the 1970s the SSPX priests have provided me and mine (and countless other families) with the Mass and sacraments, including the Last Rites. That's why they're there, that's why we use them.

Yes, they have major issues going on and will surly defect into the newchurch if they don't wake up, but use 'em while you got 'em . . and thank God He provided us with them. But it is just plain wrong to knock them as tho they are the Church's enemy at every opportunity.

    Quote
Jer. 23:1 Woe to the pastors, that destroy and tear the sheep of my pasture, saith the Lord  2 Therefore thus saith the Lord the God of Israel to the pastors that feed my people: You have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold I will visit upon you for the evil of your doings, saith the Lord.  3 And I will gather together the remnant of my flock, out of all the lands into which I have cast them out: and I will make them return to their own fields, and they shall increase and be multiplied.  4 And I will set up pastors over them, and they shall feed them: they shall fear no more, and they shall not be dismayed: and none shall be wanting of their number, saith the Lord.
IMO, we're living this prophesy now. God set us up with pastors of many different flavors, He did so mainly through +ABL and his SSPX.

Personally, I think they should consecrate 50 or 60 bishops at least, and for whatever it would have been worth, if I had more nerve I might have mentioned that to him when I had the perfect opportunity to do so, but God is in charge of the whole situation, He is the head of the Church and He's the One who will decide if, when, who and how many (if any) bishops He wants and that we deserve - it will be whatever His will is that will be done.

Most people who criticize the new-sspx are critical of the leadership/+Fellay, not the individual priests.  I thought this was obvious?

Obvious to those of us who've been here a while, but might not be to all the new posters when nearly every time anything is said about the SSPX, snarky comments follow.
