The Secret Letter of Cardinal Ottaviani in 1966 and Reply of Bishop efebvre

The question of the real nature of the clerical subversion of the Church

OTTAVIANI LINE IN 1966 MORE CRITICAL THAN THAT OF 2006 RALLIES

In 1966, before the liturgical reform took place and abolished the valid rite of episcopal consecration of the Roman rite and then abolished the Mass of Saint Pius V, Cardinal Ottaviani, prefect of the Holy Office, attributed the destruction of the Church he deplored, the absence of a "  right interpretation  " of the conciliar docuмents, and a respect for the "  vigor  " and "  spirit  " of these docuмents. Already Archbishop Lefebvre had perceived that it was a question of calling into question the council itself and accusing it. The council held from 1962 to 1965 was not the one that had been prepared . We were ten years before his "  I accuse the council  ".

In the situation of 2006, the rallied circles and their tenors are now aligned on the line of Cardinal Ottaviani, for the most resistant of them, while others push their submission to the "  council  " even further, such Father Barthe, who wants to promote "  the reform of the reform  ", which, according to the program traced by Father Ratzinger to Dr. Barth [1] (23 June 2003), would definitively eradicate the Tridentine Mass in favor of a "  third rite  " .

Forty years later, there is no other solution than the "tabula rasa" of Vatican II as expressed by Bishop Tissier de Mallerais in the United States in April 2006. What are the games of Bishop Fellay and the abbot? Schmidberger organizing the sacrilegious manipulation of the "  spiritual bouquet  " of the "  million rosaries  "?

AN INDICTMENT OF CONCI E BY ARCHBISHOP LEFEBVRE IN 1966, TWO YEARS BEFORE THE ATTACK SACRI LEGE WHO PUT TO DEATH THE E JUNE 18, 1968 BISHOPS CATHO IC RITE OF THE ATIN

In 1966, 100% of the episcopal body was still valid, that is, bishops with the fullness of sacramental powers . Since Easter 1969, the valid episcopal body consecrated in the Latin rite has progressively dwindled to almost disappear today. The reality of the disaster thus goes far beyond what is accepted to publicly acknowledge some SSPX officials .

The attempt to justify Father Pierre-Marie d'Avrillé ( Salt of the Earth n ° 54 and 56, brochure "  Are they bishops  ?" Of July 3, 2006) which still served as a pretext to refuse the truth , no longer convinces its initial followers. By the writings of Father Pierre-Marie, the Dominicans of Avrillé disreputed themselves among the clergy and the faithful, the discredit that strikes them is now reflected more and more in the facts, as we see various echoes. Faced with the presentation of facts showing disability, the first followers of Avrillé remain silent, without objection, and terribly embarrassed, so much the truth that they suspect terrifies them .

We live the events announced by Our Lady at La Salette, and the time of their realization is now accomplished.

In truth, since the death of Pius XII in 1958, there has been a radical subversive attack on the Church by all the Masonic forces at work since the time of the Haute Vente at the beginning of the nineteenth century. century (see Cretineau-Joly - The Roman Church in the face of the Revolution ). And among these, it now appears that the most fearsome and deadly enemies of the Church have emerged from the mediums of the traditional lodges (stupidly "  right  " or "  conservative  ") illuminist Rose + Croix. They quietly and peacefully worked, with superhuman patience, in connection with Benedictine monks (Dom Beauduin, Dom Botte ...) and Anglican circles. These high-level clerical circles and their affiliates carried the cutting edge of their ecclesiastical attack to practically interrupt the Apostolic Succession and the Melchisedech Priesthood of the New Covenant by repudiating the rite of Latin episcopal consecration, practiced for more than 1700 years, and by which all Catholic bishops of Latin rite had been consecrated for more than 17 centuries!

Good theologians, they knew exactly where to carry their mortal blow, knowing full well that the most effective way to destroy the Church was to cut off the sacramental channels of grace that irrigate souls and make them collectively invincible for the preservation of the true Faith. Catholic.

For this reason, by the promulgation of Pontificalis Romani in 1968, they replaced the ancient Latin rite with a new rite that was unequivocally equivocal and, in addition, like their apostate heresiarch predecessor Cranmer, who founded the Anglican sect in the middle In the sixteenth century, they had taken care to eliminate all meaning of the potestas ordinis (the fullness of the sacramental powers, the privilege of the bishop alone), in order to render this new rite intentional and certainly sacramentally invalid.

They had based their "  new rite  " on an  artificial " scholarly " construction  , built from ancient pseudopryptic fragments of Alexandrian heretic origin, and systematically promoted since 1916 (at the initiative of the Anglican Connolly), and despite the scientific resistance (see works of Father Hanssens SJ and later of Jean Magne) under the  false name of "  Apostolic Tradition  " which they managed for a long time among their small circle of "  specialists " to be attributed misleadingly to Saint Hippolyte of Rome [2] .

THE TERRIBLE REALITY OF THE DESTRUCTION OF THE PRIESTHOOD BECOMES UNAVOIDABLE IN 2006

So much so that it now appears that the true roots of the Clerical Revolution against the Church go far beyond what could be imagined by Cardinal Ottaviani in 1966, and even beyond what Bishop efebvre already perceived. in 1966. Let us illustrate this situation by this single example: consequence of the new invalid episcopal rite, an alleged prelate, such that the "cardinal" Barbarin is, before God, nothing but Mr. Barbarin, a simple layman, a usurper as may have been the so-called "bishops" Anglicans, whose claims are sacrilegious. The conciliar Church is a neo-Anglican Church.

The isolated and lucid analysis of Archbishop Lefebvre, two years before the Pontificalis Romani's sacrilegious and irremediable attack , led him to oppose convictions to validate four bishops in 1988 in the Roman rite, and in so doing to perpetuate the valid Catholic priesthood.

In 2006, research work and the experience of 40 years of combat, led despite the opposition of some clerics (Dominicans Avrillé, Abbot Schmidberger ...) or the conspiracy of silence organized by most clerics, ended by to expose the truth of FACTS on the true nature and depth of the revolutionary attack on the Church.

It is more than probable that if Mgr. efebvre had had in 1966 proof of 2006 on the clerical conspiracy that was elaborated in those same months his confrère and rival the spiritain Father squire, the F:. M: Bugnini and their agent Dom Botte, his cry of alarm to Cardinal Ottaviani would have been thundering.

The task now lies with the bishops whom he has consecrated and with whom he has transmitted the fullness of the Melchisedech Priesthood. What will they do with the sacramental graces that flow from the Redeemer Blood of Our Lord, and which their bishops have made ministers and instruments of transmission for souls?

Here are the docuмents. Let us add, on the subject of the letter of Monseigneur efebvre, that we have already remarked how far these words can not be understood from the holy Bride of Christ. The hen Bishop efebvre speaks of "the marriage of the Church with liberal ideas" we must reaffirm that it is those who have the council (Vatican of them) and some years later the liturgical reforms, which have spread their liberal ideas and which form a conciliar church which "eclipses" the Church , according to the precise term of Our Lady to Melanie Calvat, the shepherdess of a Salette.

SECRET LETTER OF CARDINAL OTTAVIANI

Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith

Prot. N 871/66

Rome, July 24, 1966 Piazza del S. Uffizio, 11

As the Second Vatican Ecuмenical Council, recently fortunately closed, has issued very wise docuмents, either in doctrinal matters or in disciplinary matters, to effectively promote the life of the Church, it is incuмbent upon all the people of God a grave responsibility that of making every effort to bring to its execution all that which, in this great assembly of bishops presided over by the Sovereign Pontiff, has been solemnly proposed or decreed.

But it belongs to the hierarchy, it is his right and his office, to watch, direct, promote the movement of renewal begun by the Council, so that the docuмents and decrees of the same Council receive a right interpretation and be implemented by strictly observing the vigor and spirit of these same docuмents. It is indeed the bishops who must protect this doctrine, they who enjoy under their leader who is Peter, the function of teaching with authority . And it is laudable that many Pastors have already begun to explain aptly the doctrine of the Council.

It is, however, to be regretted that, on various sides, unpleasant news has come of increasing abuse in the interpretation of the doctrine of the Council , as well as of vagrant and daring opinions arising here and there, which do not pervert the spirit many faithful. It is necessary to praise the studies and the efforts of a more complete investigation of the truth, which rightly distinguish between what is to be believed and what is the object of free opinion; but on examining the docuмents submitted to this Sacred Congregation, it appears that a considerable number of theses easily exceed the limits of mere opinion or hypothesis and seem to affect to a certain extent the dogma itself and the foundations of faith.

It is appropriate to touch as examples some of these theses and errors, as manifested in the reports of learned men or in published writings.

1) First comes Sacred Revelation itself: there are some who resort to Sacred Scripture by knowingly setting aside Tradition , they also reduce the amplitude and strength of biblical inspiration and inerrancy and do not have a correct idea of the value of historical texts.

2) With regard to the doctrine of faith, it is said that dogmatic formulas are subject to historical evolution , so that their objective meaning itself is subject to change.

3) The ordinary magisterium of the Church , especially that of the Roman Pontiff, is sometimes so neglected and underestimated that it is almost relegated to the region of free opinions .

4) Absolute and objective truth, firm and immutable , is hardly accepted by some, who submit everything to a certain relativism and this for the fallacious reason that all truth necessarily follows the rhythm of the evolution of consciousness and Of the history.

5) The adorable person himself of Jesus Christ is afflicted when, in rethinking Christology, such concepts of person and nature are used, which are hardly compatible with dogmatic definitions. He creeps a certain Christological humanism , according to which Christ is reduced to the condition of a simple man, who has gradually acquired the consciousness of his Divine Filiation . His miraculous conception, His miracles, His resurrection itself are conceded verbally, but in reality are reduced to a purely natural order.

6) Similarly, in the theological treatise on the sacraments , certain elements are ignored or not sufficiently taken into account, especially with regard to the Most Holy Eucharist. There are plenty of them that deal with the real presence of Christ in the species of bread and wine by promoting an exaggerated symbolism, just as if the bread and wine were not converted into the Body and Blood of Our Lady. Lord Jesus Christ by transubstantiation, but were simply transferred to a certain meaning. There are also those who advance more than reasonable the concept of agape for the mass, before the idea of Sacrifice.

7) Some preferring to explain the sacrament of Penance as a means of reconciliation with the Church, do not sufficiently express reconciliation with God offended Himself. They claim that at the celebration of this sacrament is not necessary the personal confession of sins, but they are content to express only the social function of reconciliation with the Church.

8) Neither do they miss the doctrine of the Council of Trent on original sin or comment on it in such a way that the original sin of Adam and the very transmission of sin are offended.

9) Not less errors are prevalent in the field of moral theology . Indeed, some, not in small numbers, dare to reject the objective rule of morality; others do not accept natural law, but affirm the legitimacy of situational morality, as they say. Pernicious opinions are proposed on morality and responsibility in sɛҳuąƖ and marital matters.

10) To all these things must be added a note on ecuмenism . The Apostolic See praises those who, in the spirit of the conciliar decree on ecuмenism, promote initiatives to promote charity towards the separated brethren and to attract them to the unity of the Church , but deplores the fact that, interpreting the conciliar decree in their own way, they are calling for an ecuмenical action which offends the truth about the unity of faith and the Church, favoring dangerous irenism and indifferentism , certainly is totally foreign to the spirit of the Council.

The errors and perils of this kind, scattered doubtless here and there, are nevertheless united in this letter in a summary synthesis and proposed to the Ordinaries, so that each according to his office and his office take care to repress them or to prevent them.

This Sacred Dicastery also urges the same local Ordinaries, gathered in their respective Episcopal Conferences, to take care of them and to refer them opportunely to the Holy See and to give their reflections before the feast of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus -Christ of the current year.

This letter, which an evident reason of prudence forbids to make public, that the Ordinaries and those, whoever they may be, to whom they have thought it just to communicate it, cover it with a strict secret.

REPLY OF MGR LEFEBVRE

Rome, December 20th, 1966

Eminence reverendissime,

Your letter of July 24 concerning the questioning of certain truths has been communicated by the care of our secretariat to all our major superiors.

Few answers have survived. Those who have come to us from Africa do not deny that there is a great deal of confusion in people's minds . If these truths do not appear to be in doubt, however, in practicethere is a diminution of fervor and regularity in the reception of the sacraments, especially of the sacrament of penance. There is a greatly diminished respect for the Holy Eucharist, especially on the part of the priests, a scarcity of priestly vocations in French-language missions; those of the English and Portuguese languages are less affected by the new spirit, but the magazines and newspapers already disseminate the most advanced theories.

It seems that the cause of the small number of answers received comes from the difficulty of grasping these errors which are everywhere diffuse; the evil is located above all in a literature which is confusing in the minds by ambiguous descriptions, equivocal, but under which one discovers new religion .

I believe it my duty to explain to you in all clarity what emerges from my conversations with many bishops, priests, laypeople from Europe and Africa, which also emerges from my reading in English and French countries.

I would gladly follow the order of the truths set forth in your letter, but I dare say that the present evil seems to me much more serious than the negation or questioning of a truth of our faith . It manifests itself in our day by an extreme confusion of ideas , by the disintegration of the institutions of the Church, religious institutions, seminaries, Catholic schools, ultimately of what has been the permanent support of the Church, but it does not is a logical continuation of the heresies and errors that have been undermining the Church since the last centuries, especially since the liberalism of the last century, which has striven at all costs to reconcile the Church and the ideas that led to the Revolution.

To the extent that the Church has opposed these ideas that run counter to sound philosophy and theology, she has made progress: on the contrary, any compromise with these subversive ideas has brought about an alignment of the Church in common law and the risk of making it a slave to civil societies. Each time that groups of Catholics have been attracted by these myths , the Popes, bravely, have called them to order, enlightened them and, if necessary, condemned. Catholic liberalism is condemned by Pius IX, modernism by Leo XIII, sillonism by St. Pius X, communism by Pius XI, neo-modernism by Pius XII. Thanks to this admirable vigilance, the Church consolidates and develops. The conversions of pagans, of Protestants are very numerous: the heresy is in complete rout, the States accept a more catholic legislation.

Nevertheless groups of religious imbued with these false ideas succeed in spreading them in Catholic Action, in seminaries thanks to a certain indulgence of bishops and the tolerance of certain Roman dicasteries. Soon it is among these priests that the bishops will be chosen.

It is here that the Council, which was preparing by the Preparatory Commissions, proclaimed the truth in the face of these errors in order to make them disappear for a long time from the midst of the Church. It would have been the end of Protestantism and the beginning of a new and fruitful era for the Church.

This preparation has been odiously rejected to make room for the most serious tragedy the Church has ever experienced. We witnessed the marriage of Church 1 with liberal ideas . It would be to deny the obvious, to turn a blind eye, not to boldly affirm that the Council allowed those who professed the errors and tendencies condemned by the Popes, named above, to believe legitimately that their doctrines were now approved. .

While the Council was preparing to be a luminous cloud in today's world if we had used the preconciliar texts in which we found a solemn profession of doctrine sure in the face of modern problems, we can and we must unfortunately To affirm: That, in a more or less general way, when the Council innovated, it shook the certainty of truths taught by the authentic Magisterium of the Church as definitely belonging to the treasure of Tradition.

That it is about the transmission of the jurisdiction of the bishops, the two sources of Revelation , the scriptural inspiration, the necessity of the grace for the justification, the necessity of the catholic baptism, the life of the thanks to the heretics, schismatics and pagans, the purposes of marriage, religious liberty, final ends, etc. On these fundamental points, the traditional doctrine was clear and taught unanimouslyin Catholic universities .

However, many texts of the Council on these truths now allow to doubt . The consequences were quickly drawn and applied in the life of the Church:

- Doubts about the necessity of the Church and the sacraments lead to the disappearance of priestly vocations.

- Doubts about the necessity and the nature of the "conversion" of all souls lead to the disappearance of religious vocations, the ruin of traditional spirituality in novitiates, the uselessness of missions.

- Doubts about the legitimacy of authority and the demand for obedience caused by the exaltation of human dignity, the autonomy of conscience, freedom, shake all societies starting with the Church , religious societies, dioceses, civil society, family. Pride has as its normal consequence all the concupiscences of the eyes and the flesh. Perhaps it is one of the most frightful findings of our time to see to what moral decay most Catholic publications have reached. It speaks without restraint of sɛҳuąƖity, the limitation of birth by any means, the legitimacy of divorce, mixed education, flirtation, dances as necessary means of Christian education,

- The doubts about the necessity of the grace to be saved cause the underestimation of the baptism henceforth postponed, the abandonment of the sacrament of penance. This is also mainly an attitude of priests and not of the faithful. It is the same for the real presence: it is the priests who act as if they no longer believe, hiding the Holy Reserve , removing all the marks of respect for the Blessed Sacrament, and all the ceremonies in his honor.

- Doubts about the necessity of the single source Church of salvation, on the Catholic Church only true religion, coming from the declarations on ecuмenism and religious freedom, destroy the authority of the Magisterium of the Church. Indeed, Rome is no longer the unique and necessary Magistra Veritatis .

It is necessary, then, driven by the facts, to conclude that the Council has inconceivably favored the diffusion of liberal errors. Faith, morality, and ecclesiastical discipline are shaken in their foundations, according to the predictions of all the Popes.

The destruction of the Church is proceeding at a rapid pace . By an exaggerated authority given to the Episcopal Conferences, the Supreme Pontiff rendered himself impotent. In one year, only painful examples! However, the Successor of Peter and he alone can save the Church.

May the Holy Father surround himself with strong defenders of the faith and designate them in important dioceses. May he deign, by important docuмents, to proclaim the truth, to pursue the error, without fear of contradictions, without fear of schisms, without fear of calling into question the pastoral dispositions of the Council.

Deign the Holy Father: encourage the bishops to straighten up the faith and manners individually, each in their respective dioceses, as befits any good pastor; to support courageous bishops, to incite them to reform their seminaries, to restore there studies according to Saint Thomas; to encourage the superiors general to maintain in novitiates and communities the fundamental principles of all Christian asceticism, especially obedience; encourage the development of Catholic schools, the press of sound doctrine, the associations of Christian families finally reprimand the errors makers and silence them. Wednesday's speeches can not replace the encyclicals, the mandates, the letters to the bishops.

No doubt I am very reckless to express myself in this way! But it is with ardent love that I compose these lines, love of the glory of God, love of Jesus, love of Mary, of his Church, of the Successor of Peter, bishop of Rome. Vicar of Jesus Christ.

Deign the Holy Spirit, to whom our Congregation is committed, to help the Pastor of the universal Church.

May your Eminence deign to accept the assurance of my most respectful devotion to Our Lord.
