  • Is it my twisted mind or the new altar of the Seminary of Econe could have the "advantage" of being use on both sides?  :dancing:

Yes, I concur that it is strange it should be set in the middle, rather than close to the wall at the back with the traditional tabernacle set in an attractive reredos. Since the Society has so much money, why the setting? Hm.... :confused1:

  • Good point...

Where is the Blessed Sacrament; the center and core of our religion?

If the fight is fighting modernism -why look like them?

If the fight is to put the Glory of Christ the King in our minds, hearts, and in society, why not put him (the Blessed Sacrament) in the center?

Also, there is no liturgically need to go "behind" the altar, except in the rubric for incensing the altar at Mass.  So why all of the "wasted" space behind the altar when our Lord in the Tabernacle can be rightly focused, Honored, and Adored?

In pointing this out, this sanctuary certainly looks empty and "dead", like the same conciliar modernism the present SSPX leaders want to make an agreement with -insane!

    Horrible.

It diffinitely can be used on both sides, because it has no tabernacle.

Architecturally, this would make a perfect Novus Ordo table in front of the an old high altar and tabernacle. Now the cardinals can come and "worship" at Econe.

By their deeds you shall know them.

  • Just like after V2: A new table for a new religion.

    I can already hear Menzingen's pre-planned justifications.

    Absolutely shocking.

  • To quote Father Hector Bolduc, " you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear!" This is a table...I don't care what it's made of.  It is still a TABLE!  :ready-to-eat: Maybe your kitchen counter top is made of marble.  That doesn't make it an altar.

  • A picture is worth a million words!

I've got to admit though, that table perfectly matches with his new doctrinal stance.

    It's more honest that way!

''Lucy took a picture of the new altar the day of the ordinations. It is a replica of an altar in a basilica in Assisi. All the pillars are different.  It would be interesting to see if there is a meaning behind that or if it is just artistic expression.''

  • Is there a picture of the old altar somewhere (I'm sure)?  Why the need to 'update' the altar at Econe?

  • Yes there is, but a small one on the official Écône seminary website http://www.seminaire-econe.ch/frcom/doc/visite/ph_2e.htm

And I wonder why the reference to Assisi ... maybe I too have a twisted mind lol  :dancing:
