  • In the Christmas letter sent to the people of Saint Marys we had this quote from a Father William Most (now deceased): "The stronger the love, the greater lengths to which the soul will go to please God and to induce others to please Him.  Little love will be satisfied with giving little; great love will give much; perfect love will give all"

The commentary began like this: "The truth of these words from author Fr. William Most strikes us especially poignantly when we consider the birth of Our Savior. Like the shining star that pierced the darkness of that first Christmas night so long ago, the burning charity of the Divine Son made Man pierces and dispels the deep darkness of the world. Loving His Divine Father with all the ardor of His Sacred Heart, and longing to sacrifice Himself for souls, Jesus showed His perfect love even in the manger: Our Blessed Lord gave all; He gave Himself."

All of it and our commentary can be viewed at this link:

    Crisis rarely preached

We have just dug up THIS writing from Father William Most. A superior of the SSPX appreciates him so dearly:

ARCHBISHOP LEFEBVRE AND THE DECLARATION ON RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
                                                     by Fr. William Most

"Because of the claims, and subsequent schism, made by Archbishop Lefebvre that the <Declaration on Religious Liberty> of Vatican II,
Dignitatis humanae>, contradicted teachings of Gregory XVI, Pius IX, and Leo XIII, we will make a careful comparison of texts.

We must add that something taught repeatedly on the Ordinary Magisterium level is infallible. Such seems to be the case with the teaching of these three Popes. Hence, no matter on what level Vatican II, was teaching in this Declaration, the charge amounts to a charge that a general council taught heresy. Then the promises of Christ would be at least largely void..."

You can read it all at this link:

With quiet deception we see the people being sucked into the Novus Ordo. Watch and pray!

  • I think the point is:

The neoSSPX is using the name of a priest close to +ABL to endorse their Christmas message, but on the contrary +ABL and Father Most are shown  not to have approved Bp. Fellay's efforts to unite with the modernist authors of Dignitatis humanae.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • As I recall Fr. W. Most was one of the promoters of a less aggressive
new theology after  Vat.II and was no special advocate of the TLM,
but was quoted for keeping the Newmass more "conservative."  I
haven't checked but that's how I remember him being referenced by
some activists, along the EWTN direction and Fr. Fessio before his
    Ave Maria days in Florida.

  • Here is the Conclusion of the link that was posted:

    Quote from: Father Most
Therefore Archbishop Lefebvre was completely without justification in his claims.

So the SSPX is referring to this priest in their letters to the faithful, essentially endorsing the priest, despite his opposition to the position of the Archbishop.

The Doctrinal Preamble is a lot like the docuмents of Vatican II.

A lot of people will shrug their shoulders and say "So what?"

    They don't understand the implications.

    The implications are unmistakable.

They abandoned the position of the Archbishop.

They've abandoned the SSPX's chief reason for being separate from the Conciliar Church.

And in trying to deny that they are, they are being less than straightforward or honest.

They are doing the same thing the Vatican II sect does.

And you know now, they practically say the conciliar church, the Vatican II sect, is not apart from the Church.

  • Quelle suprise, I'm afraid to say, although it's certainly the most flagrant Modernism I've seen in the Society. This sort of thing is the reason there is a Resistance. A fair part of the Society is sunk.
Old-fashioned is good, modern is suicidal.

  • "Crisis Rarely Preached"

    Crisis in the Church

Same at all of the chapels in my State. Nothing is mentioned about the crisis in the Church, or anything of substance. Everything is like Fr. Becks letter, hollow, with no direct application to the real world in which live.

    Crisis in Our Everyday Lives

Nothing is mentioned about the  crisis in our everyday lives, or anything of substance. Everything is like Fr. Becks letter, hollow, with no direct application to the real world in which live. Our boys going down the drain, drugs, porno, video game addicts, our daughters going down the drain, having pre-marital sex, going out on dates by themselves, drinking alcohol, dressing like any other girl in the world. Our young men not having any job skills because the SSPX schools only teach liberal arts. Our young men getting married at 20 years of age with no means of support but their parents. I could go on and on with subject matter for instructive real world applicable sermons to help, to guide, the flock, enough to give a sermon EVERYDAY. And yet, we get NOTHING!

I go now to the SSPX chapels to get the sacraments, I expect no more. We are on our own as far as all of the problems around us. I can take care of myself. I pity the other parishioners, they are the blind sheep being led by the blind shepherd. I pity most their children, for they don't stand a chance!

I for one cannot stomach this Neo-SSPX false deception of outwardly showing to be "Tradition Catholic".....even if the sacraments are valid when well knowingly that they're slowly cooking everyone with the modernists poison.

With such a negative environment Bowler, why do you even put yourself in the midst of all of this?

  • There is a mistake in Fr. Most's argument:

    Quote from: sspxbvm
Hence, no matter on what level Vatican II, was teaching in this Declaration, the charge amounts to a charge that a general council taught heresy. Then the promises of Christ would be at least largely void..."

The Council didn't teach Religious Liberty on any level. They covered themselves in Lumen Gentium:

"Taking conciliar custom into consideration and also the pastoral purpose of the present Council, the sacred Council defines as binding on the Church only those things in matters of faith and morals which it shall openly declare to be binding. The rest of the things which the sacred Council sets forth, inasmuch as they are the teaching of the Church's supreme magisterium, ought to be accepted and embraced by each and every one of Christ's faithful according to the mind of the sacred Council. The mind of the Council becomes known either from the matter treated or from its manner of speaking, in accordance with the norms of theological interpretation.

In fact, it declared nothing to be binding. Catholics were only bound to that which in the docuмents had been previously taught by the Church.

Vatican II was not a General Council but a "pastoral council", as publicly stated by John XXIII and Paul VI. It is the only one of its type in the history of the Church and the normal rules for Councils don't apply. The Holy Ghost prevented it from voiding the promises of Christ.

    Bowler,

You hit on point here that many of us have observed from the SSPX pulpits.
It's the hollowness of the neoSSPX priest's message.

Of course, they will pontificate about the Faith and holiness, but without the context of life in 2013.

Topics such as Rome's responsibility for the Church crisis, the obvious divisions within the SSPX, modernists, false doctrines, ʝʊdɛօ-masonic attacks... these things are mainly omitted.

Consider Father Themann's treatise on "No Crisis within the SSPX". Obviously, his superiors coached him in writing these half-truths.

What else can we conclude but that these shepherds are guilty of the sins of lying and omission?   Let us pray for the sanctity and perseverance of their collective priesthoods.

  • I'm not refuting anything in this thread, but it is important for the vast majority of a priest's sermons at Mass to focus on living the Catholic Faith and refraining from the poisoned charms of the world and why those poisoned charms lead to the destruction of Catholic souls.

Don't get me wrong - I'd love to hear about the Crisis in the Church in each and every sermon but the priest who does this is failing in his primary mission - which I see as a Shepherd of Souls.

Don't forget too that a large chunk of the SSPX devout are under 40 and were born long after the disaster of apostasy that was Vatican II.

    Captain,

IMHO, a priestly shepherd's duty is to relate the teachings of the Gospels to the reality of our daily lives.

When this responsibility is avoided, something is missing.

Bowler has labeled it as "hollowness".  I think he's nailed it.

That's a rephrasing of what I said but not substantially different.

My SSPX chapel is filled with families and the majority of moms and dads are youngsters (in their mid to late 30's) .  Young 'uns who may get the impression that if the priest is yamming on nonstop about Vatican II he may come across as a war vet who can't seem to stop talking about his toe injury.  (Of course, a proper comparison would be a hand grenade that blew out the entire torso).

What exactly went wrong at St. Mary's, Kansas????

This sounds like a fantasy. I live in St. Marys, and while there are a few bad eggs (hardly not surprising given St. Marys' huge size), nearly all of the people I know here are quite good people. Of course there is liberalism here and there. One cannot live in the world without being affected by it to some degree. And yet the priests are trying very hard to eliminate that liberalism, especially in the children. The Eucharistic crusaders, the C.O.M. and the Knights have all been rejuvenated and have seen a dramatic growth in membership and activity, the Catechism of the Crisis by Fr. Gaudron is being made a mandatory part of the high school curriculum, the works of the Archbishop are being heavily promoted. And these are just some of the things that are being done. Fr. Beck has instituted a weekly lecture series on topics pertaining to Catholic Faith and culture and they are being very well-attended. If you listen to Fr. Beck's sermons they are quite good and have helped me immensely. Just a few weeks ago I heard a sermon by Fr. Desautard excoriating the people for lukewarmness and spiritual mediocrity. Fr. Angele's sermons are also very good, and very practical.

The resistance keeps making these claims...and yet I see with my own eyes the exact opposite of what they claim!
