It is kind of ironical that some folks insist on enforcing the 1962 liturgy while they don't follow it verbatim themselves. Just look at how they don't remove the confiteor before the communion of the faithful, as the 1962 orders to.

They say that is was a bad change. It surely was, but, if you act on this principle, you cannot criticize people who use the older missal, since they use this exact argument. At least they follow the 1954 rules verbatim, while the 1962 folks pick and choose.

If we can pick and choose, the 1954 is much superior. It has all the traditional feasts that the 1960 calendar deleted and the octaves, which Pius XII destroyed in 1955.

If you love St. Thomas Aquinas, as you should, you have to be coherent. He surely would not approve faulty logic.

If only Archbishop Lefebvre could have asked your advice, he wouldn't have fallen into such an ironic position!  Perhaps you could have corrected His Excellency about the diminution of the octaves, which he applauded.

Strictly speaking, the Communion of the faithful is not even a part of Mass.  Besides, do you throw Mom's dinner in the garbage because you find a piece of hair in your mashed potatoes?  Pull the hair out and eat what you're given.

If you're interested in St. Thomas Aquinas, find the question Ia IIae, q. 33 art. 4 ad 2um.  Obey your superiors unless it is a danger to the Faith.

Fascinating, from Fr. James Mawdsley.

The communion of the faithful was not part of the mass until the 1962 edition, when it was included in the rite of the mass. The whole missal is avaliable on CathIndo's library section. You can see it for yourself.

The Church currently has only emergency authority and supplied jurisdiction. I have no superior. It would be the local parish priest, as far as I know, but a modernist took his place decades ago.
