That they all may be one
    ClARAN McARDLE

One heresy that urgently needs to be tackled is that of false ecuмenism.

True ecuмenical dialogue, between a Catholic and non-Catholic, consists of the Catholic rigorously presenting the truth of Catholic doctrine to a non-Catholic, so that the non-Catholic may convert. By this method the Church wishes to "recall her erring sons and to lead them back to her bosom." 1

False ecuмenism is quite different and consists of compromising the Dogma, the Doctrine, and the Divine Worship of the Faith so as to achieve a false semi-communion with those still in error.

It has mutated into something even worse; "ecuмenical prayer", which has been consistently condemned by Holy Mother Church. The Baltimore Catechism calls it a sin against Faith, hence a sin worse than murder.

"A Catholic sins against Faith by taking part in non-Catholic worship, because he thus professes belief in a religion he knows to be false."
One incurs excommunication by taking part in such a travesty as can be seen from the Council of Carthage, AD 398

"None must either pray or sing psalms with heretics; and whosoever shall communicate with those who are cut off from the Communion of the Church, whether clergyman or laic, let him be excommunicated."2

Yet many Catholics engage in charity works, evangelisation, and works of mercy with non-Catholics. Pius XI rightly called false ecuмenism, in Mortalium Animos "a most grave error, by which the foundations of the Catholic Faith are completely destroyed."

Those who pursue the path of false ecuмenism are consciously or unconsciously doing the work of the Devil by destroying said foundations. They need to be resisted (in a spirit of charity), even to their faces if necessary.

The title of this article is an extract from the Holy Gospel of Saint John. In John 17:21 Our Lord prays for His disciples "That they all may be one." There are essentially three exegeses concerning this   passage of Sacred Scripture; the humanist exegesis, the Protestant exegesis, and the Catholic exegesis.

    The humanist exegesis runs thus:
Our Lord prayed that they may all be one, so what we need to do is assemble all of mankind together; suppressing or ignoring the very real differences which exist between the tribes of man. At all costs we must gather them together in one body. There will be peace then. We don't want to prove Our Lord a liar.

    The Protestant exegesis runs thus:
The   Catholic   Church   is merely a Christian sect like any other. Catholics wrongfully claim to be the One True Church and the Sole Ark of Salvation. What we need to do is to assemble all the sects together, the Catholic Church included, into one body. Thus we shall establish for ourselves a truly One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, which, since the apostles until now, has never existed.

Obviously the above exegeses are blasphemies.

    The Catholic exegesis runs thus:
Our Lord prayed to His Heavenly Father that all of His disciples may be one. Of course His Heavenly Father answered his prayer. On Pentecost Sunday the Holy Catholic Church was born, with the Holy Ghost, the soul thereof, descending upon the Apostles. As the Holy Ghost is indivisible, He never left the Church with the heretics and schismatics who did. Hence none of the Christian Church's Divine Unity was ever lost. The disciples of Our Lord were one within the Catholic Church on Pentecost Sunday; they are one within the Catholic Church today, and they ever shall be one within the Catholic Church.

The Catholic exegesis is the correct one. I mean when did Our Lord ever pray for something, without His prayer being answered promptly? Did Our Lord have to wait two thousand years for the loaves and the fishes to multiply?

What type of unity did Our Lord envisage? We are told in John 10:16 by our Lord Himself.

"There shall be one fold and one shepherd."

The Catholic Church has been one fold with one shepherd since it was established on Saint Peter on Pentecost Sunday. Our Lord's prayer for unity has been perfectly answered.

However, today's Catholic Ecuмaniac does not accept the Catholic exegesis of this verse. He does not believe in the Holy Catholic Church, hence he has apostatised and isn't Catholic at all.

Today's Apostate Ecuмaniac prefers the blasphemous Protestant and humanist exegeses of this verse. When he prays for "Christian Unity" he makes a mockery of the Divine Unity, which exists solely within the Church.

The Apostate Ecuмaniac makes a mockery of the shedding of Christ's blood, for it was with the shedding of the Precious Blood on Calvary that His Bride, the Church, was won for Him. We are a Pearl of Great Price.  The Protestant sects are only cheap counterfeits. Yet the Apostate Ecuмaniac is too proud to admit this.

Filled with the diabolical spiritof pride and contempt, he sets out to build a new church. New church is an artificial contrivance, and hence is not of God. By impugning and concealing the known Catholic truth, which are sins against the Holy Ghost, he sets out to achieve his diabolical aims. Like Lucifer, he wants more than what God would give him. Like Lucifer too, he shall end up with nothing.

Pope Leo XIII in Libertas taught that "to treat all religions alike" is to "adopt a line of action that will lead to godlessness."

The ultimate aim of the liars, hypocrites and equivocators in new church is not that Christ may draw all men to Himself so as to forgive their sins and heal them.

Just as the Freemasons proclaim the equality of all religions so as to advance the cause of a brutal, liberal and godless secular order, so too their cronies in new church do this. The ultimate end of new church is the construction of a godless humanist brotherhood of man.

The Thomistic definition of evil is: the privation of a due good. Men of good will hunger and thirst for the Catholic Religion in its entirety. To men of Good will, the Catholic Religion in its entirety is due them. Men of Good will are being denied the entirety of Catholic teaching by new church, and so will never convert. Is there anything more evil than this?

1  Mortalium Animos (1928) by Pius XI which condemns all inter-faith ecuмenical activity.
2  Council  of Carthage, IV, 72-73, apud George Hay, The Sincere Christian (Dublin James Duffy & Sons, n.d.), p.555.

  • Outstanding!

Other truly valuable references include the writings on authentic ecclesiology by Msgr. Joseph Clifford Fenton, cited by John Vennari in articles and conferences he has given concerning the hideous nature of the faux ecuмenism infecting the Church and the world.

These are available online or for purchase at the Catholic Family News website.

Msgr. Fenton, for those who may be unfamiliar, was a great Thomist and editor of the American Ecclesiastical Review prior to Vatican II and he docuмented the threats which he could clearly see would arise were the modernist/liberal/progressivist "experts" already at work following World War II to ever achieve an opportunity to impose their false religion and errors on the Church.

    Voila!

  • There's a decent article in the Catholic Encyclopedia on this.

    http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/15132a.htm

"...the unity of Christendom is not a lost ideal to be recovered, but a stupendous reality which has always been in stable possession. For not only has this Catholic Church ever taught that unity is an essential note of the true Church of Christ, but throughout her long history she has been, to the amazement of the world, distinguished by the most conspicuous unity of faith and government, and this notwithstanding that she has at all times embraced within her fold nationalities of the most different temperaments, and has had to contend with incessant oscillations of mental speculation and political power."

It then goes on to describe why the Protestants and Greeks of good will who long for unity should recognize their need to return to the Catholic Church.
"Never will anyone who says his Rosary every day become a formal heretic ... This is a statement I would sign in my blood." St. Montfort, Secret of the Rosary. I support the FSSP, the SSPX and other priests who work for the restoration of doctrinal orthodoxy and liturgical orthopraxis in the Church. I accept Vatican II if interpreted in the light of Tradition and canonisations as an infallible declaration that a person is in Heaven. Sedevacantism is schismatic and Ecclesiavacantism is heretical.

  • The first post is excellent.

Lots of detail, and that's nice.

A friend of mine gave me a potent insight regarding the word, dialogue.

I asked him, "What is dialogue?"

    He told me:

"Dialogue," as our modern practitioners of false ecuмenism
use it, means that Catholics and non-Catholics would come
together and have a conversation, with the intention of
"discovering the truth," but, they presume from the start,
that no one has the truth.
