Texas being ignored -- WHY?

  • Update: Our chapel is doing just fine now:
    http://www.StDominicsChapel.com

I can't help but notice that the San Antonio chapter of the Resistance is being snubbed.

That is despite the many promising features of our organized, established Resistance group here:

    * Many adult supporters, or potential supporters
    * Excellent central location for the population centers here
    * A new, 30x40 (12' high) metal workshop building (most of one) with land
    * Quite decent equipment for a "garage chapel"
    * Mass server(s), organist, choir, chant expert(s)
    * Pickup from airport not a problem (car rental not needed)
    * Room for 1 or 2 priests to stay the night
    * And much more

I wrote to Fr. Pfeiffer 2 or 3 weeks ago, giving actual names and details of our group here. (Note: He came here for a visit with Fr. Hewko on Feb. 15 -- 2 days after Phoenix got their first Mass. He's been back there twice already.) He hasn't even written me back yet about a "next time".

I'm not saying we're the best; I'm just saying we shouldn't be utterly ignored!
We're certainly not the worst, the smallest, or showing the least potential.

Maybe we'll just have to be patient for when the Resistance gains a few more priests.

I, for one, am not going anywhere. I don't care how long I have to wait.

  • Yes, I'm frustrated.

And yes, I realize there are only 2 priests doing the rounds for the whole country.

Even with all that factored in, it certainly seems like Texas isn't getting it's fair shot -- given the situation outlined above.

  • Are there any independent priests milling aroud? Here in the UK non-SSPX priests have to come from France/Germany. I don't think even Bp. W has a centre here.

  • Hope, dear Mathew, that it has nothing to do with the banning of Pablo from Cathinfo and the  "de-linking" of his websites. Let us pray that the French priestly resistance brigade team up with Bp Williamson and then offer their ministry to resistance groups everywhere.

AJNC, I agree too! Let a start with a 'Hail Mary'.
"It is impious to say, 'I respect every religion.' This is as much as to say: I respect the devil as much as God, vice as much as virtue, falsehood as much as truth, dishonesty as much as honesty, Hell as much as Heaven."

  • There haven't been a lot of resistance Masses in my area either. I found out about one a few weeks after it happened and then there are these  which are somewhat near me, but I do not have the transportation. Anyway, it is not much, but I don't think my area deserves to have frequent resistance Masses because there are not many traditional Catholics here compared to the population. There aren't a lot of resistance priests to go around and they would serve the people better by going to areas with a higher concentration of traditional Catholics.
    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

Even though some not so nice things were written about Father Pfeiffer on this forum a few weeks back I'm sure he isn't so petty to hold that against anyone.  He loves all souls who seek Our Lord.

But, ya know, an apology can go a long way.

Who said not-so-nice things about Fr. Pfeiffer?

So I'm to apologize for posts I permitted on CathInfo? Is that your suggestion?

Because I'm sure I never said anything bad about Father Pfeiffer myself.

Pablo, maybe (and even that was strictly factual) but he's not Fr. Pfeiffer.

  • I do recall getting several thumbs-down on a post that basically said, "We should remember to not worship Fr. Pfeiffer".

Apparently, just asking us to stay rational is considered "anti-Pfeiffer" and "worthy of an apology" to some.

    Cult of Personality much?

(Were you one of the downthumbs, Zeitun?)

  • I don't think I did a thumbs down but you'll have to verify that Matthew.  You weren't the one who made the bad statements.  I doubt Fr. P stays away because of any particular reason other than scheduling.  He's just a man, nothing special, but very busy.  I never have trouble reaching Fr. P by telephone.  Have you tried calling?

The last time I talked to Fr. Pfeiffer, he "had to take an important phone call" and then never called back for the next 3 weeks.

He briefly responded to a very specific e-mail I sent him (Let's call it Email #3), but E-mail #1 and #2 went totally ignored. E-mail #2 was a detailed report about the status of the San Antonio Resistance.

If he had just told me "I can't be out there again until X" I would understand. But he seems to be forgetting that we even exist.

If this were a place with no organized Resistance yet, or not enough Traditional Catholics in general, I wouldn't have a problem. But I've done the legwork, I've help establish a resistance here -- and now it's all going to atrophy from neglect.

  • Fr Pfeiffer said when he was here that he doesn't get a chance to check his email that often. Not sure what is going on, but I do know he is constantly busy, and often driving for hours, and can't really use the phone or net at that time. I think you should give him another chance before you take it personally, just my opinion.

  • P.S. Matthew, I agree that the resistance should not be a personality cult. It looks like the list of resistance priests is getting longer. Maybe one will be able to come to your chapel soon, I hope.

  • Mathew, I think that Father Pfeiffer and Father Hewko are just busy trying to get schedules made and book flights etc. to many places worldwide.  I know they are thinking about a Seminary too.

Let's not forget that the Pfeiffer family lost their home to fire.

We went to our first SSPX-SO Mass many weeks ago in Essington, (Philaldephia near St. Jude's in Eddystone, Pa.)  where Father Hewko offered up the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.   Many of us are from South Jersey, Delaware and Philadelphia.  We were told by the leaders that Mass in our area is about once a month.  It has been a long time for us too.

I admit.  I get impatient and frustrated too.  I have my "moments*
    You know that.

I was thinking why is everything in New York and North jersey?  However, that is where the most liberals are...so  I figured those areas need all the help they can get.

Trust me there is a big difference between North Jersey and South Jersey.  There is a reason why Salem (near Delaware and Chester, pa) and cuмberland Counties are poorest counties in the State of NJ.

As far as for Pablo.... He has always been kind and compasionate towards me.
We are all miserable sinners.  I know I am.  Going to Confession , praying the Rosary, assisting at Mass and receiving Holy Communion is a must for my husband and me.

This goes for me too because I get impatient.  We must pray and be patient.

I pray that there will be  Mass ( SSPX-SO) on a regular schedule in Texas and Philadelphia (South Jersey and Delaware).   I also pray that Bishop Williamson visits Texas and Philadelphia area too!

    What is Texas like?

    God Bless you all!

Bishop Williamson is right that we should all try to pray the WHOLE ROSARY.

May God bless you and keep you

  • I thank all those faithful who have been assisting at Mass  and receiving Sacraments in hotels, homes, ambulance halls, etc and even barns.  If it wasn't for you, there wouldn't be any true Mass.

It made me think of my own grandparents who had Mass in their home during maybe the 30's when the KKK burnt crosses on their front lawn.  (it wasn't the Novus Ordo Mass either)

    God bless you!
May God bless you and keep you
