I’ll probably take some heat for revealing this, but Dr. White’s health is extremely precarious at the moment (and has been for a couple years now).
But worse than his health issues, is the pain of a great thinker and writer believing -MISTAKENLY- he has no more to offer. This misperceived uselessness on his part needs only the proper venue to reawaken the love of teaching, if one would step forward to give him a little nudge.
Bishop Williamson emailed me about conducting a series of recorded interviews on various natural and supernatural subjects, but n a very polite way, an intermediary declined the offer. My suspicion is that perhaps the good Doctor has witnessed me brawling in the mud one too many times, and does not want his name to be associated with mine (just a guess on my part which, if true, is perfectly understandable).
The point of posting about this here, therefore, is to see if perhaps someone in Dr. White’s neck of the woods could take up this project, and perhaps he would receive a more favorable response from Dr. White.
All the great trads are dying or fading into obscurity, and this saddens me tremendously. But I believe Dr. White still has his best work in front of him, if only the right man can persuade him.
Bishop Williamson reminds me that the swan’s song (ie., it’s final wailing) is its most beautiful, and the thought of Dr. White dying with his own song trapped inside is depressing.
There are some here in the Virginia area who perhaps could persuade Dr. White to write or interview, before...?
