  • I am confused by this topic.  I thought the SSPX and the Resistance officially use the 1962 Missal which specifically calls for the genuflection for the Jєωs.  Am I mistaken?  Do the SSPX and the Resistance use an earlier Missal?

Does either the SSPX or the Resistance use the 1962 Missal with the prayer for the Jєωs that was revised by Pope Ratzinger a few years ago?  I would understand that they didn't use that prayer.  But I am really confused about the question of whether SSPX chapels genuflected when the 1962 Missal calls for them to do so.

The SSPX does not really follow the 62 Missal. They follow most of the changes in the Missal, but not all. These threads show that it was not universal for the SSPX to genuflect for the Jєωs, but there are other differences between the liturgy of the SSPX and the 62 Missal. I am not an expert on this, but the most obvious difference is that the 62 Missal removed the Confiteor before the Communion of the faithful and the SSPX refused that change and says the Confiteor before Communion.
    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • Yes, the priest and congregation genuflected. The priest did not say "perfidious" either.
During the Easter Vigil- there were a number of mistakes... the form for the blessing of the water was incomplete (among other issues). I am wondering if he didn't feel well, this was his first Easter by himself, or ???

  • Why did our Church Fathers decide not to genuflect for the conversion of the perfidious Jєωs?

Because the Jєωs staged mock genuflections to belittle Our Lord's Kingship.

"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi
