I've been underwhelmed by the priests ordained the past 7-8 years by SSPX. It's also almost as if they're clones of one another, with very similar personalities and temperaments. In the older days, boy did you have some characters who were ordained to the priesthood. But now they seem to come out of some cookie-cutter mold.
You're absolutely right -- it's the change in direction at the seminary itself. They're forming a new kind of seminarian. They're not looking for leaders, warriors and martyrs, they're instead looking for men who are FIRSTLY obedient. That is the highest virtue they push constantly: Obedience. And this during a time of crisis, when the virtue of obedience has been exploited to destroy the Church!
You'd think they'd choose a different virtue as a
sine qua non for those chosen for ordination. How about humility, FORTITUDE, prudence, charity, studiousness, mortification, and other important virtues. Look at the most prominent virtues in Archbishop Lefebvre -- THOSE are the virtues you need in a Church Crisis.
